Blixz nail foils
You all know that I ADORE nail art and I’m always on the lookout for new things to try. Blixz nail foils have been a huge hit in the world of nail art internationally and they have finally come to Australia! I was very kindly sent some to review and I am loving them. Read on to hear my experience with them!

What they say:
“The latest trend in celebrity accessories is not coming in the form of shoes or bags this season- it’s nail art! Blixz Nail Foils are the hottest trend for spring, and they are quickly revolutionizing the manicure as we know it! This futuristic foil phenomenon is the latest boom in nail art throughout Europe and the U.S., already seen on the fingers and toes of international music and film stars around the world."

Some celebrities who have rocked them are my favourite nail art celeb Katy Perry, also Beyonce and Aussie Ruby Rose just to name a few! I have serious nail envy of the nail art designs Katy Perry rocks x)

Blixz nail foils are thin foils that and are applied directly to the nail as an alternative to nail polish. They contain special adhesive and adhere to both natural and artificial nails instantly. I think they’re a fantastic innovation because not only do the designs look fantastic but there’s no smudging, waiting for polish to dry or chipping!

I was very kindly sent 2 designs to try out – a bright floral design called Flower Power and a cute black rose design called Ruby Rose. I also received a pack from Christina in our Christmas swap which I have yet to try out doh!

The retail packs contain 16 nail foils in 8 different sizes, 1 cuticle pusher, 1 nail file, and 1 mini scissors. I love the fact that the mini scissors have a little Blixz inscription on them - such detail! This is enough for one application but if you have small nail beds you could possibly get away with 2 applications.

Blixz nail foils are easy to apply and they have simple step by step instructions including photos which are fantastic for when using for the 1st time. You basically size, cut, peel, apply, file and then you're done.

I decided to try out Floral Power 1st to try and pretend it’s still summer =p I showed a sneak peek of this design on my Twitter a little while ago which you might have seen. I absolutely LOVE the look of Blixz nail foils! They are very thin on the nail and feel very natural on. In the packet I thought this design would be a bit too much for me but they looked fabulous and I couldn’t stop staring at my nails when I had them on. There is something seriously cool about them! Nearly every person I saw when I wore these nail foils commented on them and they were so impressed as they thought I had drawn the design myself haha. I should have fibbed and said yes I freehanded them! =p

Application was pretty easy and after the initial learning curve it took me no more than 15-20 minutes per hand to do. This is a approximately the same time it takes me to do a normal manicure but as there’s no drying time or risk of ruining my manicure it works out slightly better. I get distracted so easily so these nail foils are fantastic because they're dry - so I can get up and do something else involving use of my hands (like going to the bathroom!) without fear of ruining my manicure.
The most difficult thing with these nail foils was getting the size right. Only 2 of the pre-cut sizes fit my nails perfectly and for my other fingers I had to cut them to size. I sized the nail foils by just trimming straight down the edge and for the most part it worked quite well, for one nail I cut too much off though so it looked kind of strange. If you don't position the nail foil nicely it's very easy to just peel the nail foil off and readjust and you can do this as many times until you get it perfect. I found it important to press down the foil properly or it created creases such as on my ring finger in the pic below.

I found the edges a bit rough after filing the excess nail foil off, perhaps I didn't file at a 90degree angle properly..? This was an issue as I wear contacts and removal of them was tricky as I didn't want to scratch my eye or my contacts. Blixz nail foils claim to last up to 14days but unfortunately I wasn't able to do a full wear test. I wore these for 3 full days of work where I literally tore my hands to shreds and the nail foils did lift slightly in the corners of the fingers I suffer most wear but apart from that damage was minimal. I can't stand wearing the same polish for more than 2 days now but I shall endeavour to do a wear test when I test out the Ruby Rose foils.
Removal is super easy, you wash your hands in warm soapy water and gently peel the foil off. No chemicals needed! They suggest using heat to help but I removed my foils straight out of the shower with no troubles at all.

Would I repurchase?: They are a little pricey for one application only but I will definitely repurchase! Blixz nail foils are fantastic for a trip overseas where I'm unable to do my nails or for a special occasion. I would love to try the hearts, Like A Leopard White; Black & Silver and Fancy Florentine Black designs.
For Aussie ladies, you can purchase Blixz from their online store for $17.50 or you can have them professionally applied at a salon. For full salon and distributor listing see the Blixz site.
A big thank you to Maz for providing me with this product! I was sent the above product to sample but this in no way influenced my review in any way. As always, my reviews are my 100% honest opinion.
Have you tried nail foils before? What do you think of them? Thanks for looking!
