Help Me Ronda Rub-a-Dub Scrub and Hydration Balm review

If you've read my blog for a while now you'll know that I love cuticle and hand care products. I am ALWAYS on the lookout for new products to try in case I find a new Holy Grail product and maybe because I pretty much just want to buy new beauty products! You also might know that I have a few skin problems which means I have to be extra careful when choosing products to use. Today I have 2 products from Help Me Ronda Aromatherapy & Massage that my hands have been absolutely loving and are gentle on my crappy skin.

Now straight up I have to let you know that the owner of Help Me Ronda is a friend and she's been friends with my hubby since primary school. I pull no punches when it comes to all my reviews and you can rest assured that Ronda received no special treatment whatsoever!

First up is the Rub-a-Dub Scrub which is an exfoliating hand and body scrub made from all natural shea butter, coconut oil, jojoba oil, rice powder and tea tree powder. I really suck at describing smells but I'd say it has a fresh scent which is lovely and calming. A great pamper night product!

You only need about a 5-10 cent piece for both hands as a little goes a fair way. I've used a bit too much in the pic below though oops! To use, rub into your palms to melt the scrub and then gently rub for about 30 seconds before rinsing with warm water to reveal softer, smoother looking skin. It leaves a slightly oily film on the skin which soaks in after a while though which helps to lock in moisture and hydrate your skin.

I found the Rub-a-Dub-Scrub super gentle on my skin although it looks a little worrying in the tub. It made the backs of my hands smooth but I found the scrub made the biggest difference on my eczema and dermatitis patches which flare up on the palms of my hands and my ring and pinky fingers. My eczema patches are NOT a pretty sight at all hence why I haven't shown any pics. The scrub softened my rough dry skin leaving it smoother and I simply moisturised well after. It kept my scaly skin at bay for a good week which is a miracle for me - I normally have to resort to my corticosteroids creams so I am in love!

The Apple Pie Hydration Balm from the Just Desserts range smells every darn bit delicious as it sounds. It's made from mango butter, coconut oil, evening primrose oil and tea tree essential oil and can be used on pretty much any dry patch you might have. It works like my beloved Lush Lemony Flutter but the texture of the Hydration Balm is infinitely better - it's softer and smoother so it melts and soaks in wonderfully and quickly too in just a few minutes.

The soft texture however isn't so great in the warmer months as the balm melts so definitely store it in a cool place. I tend to use it on my elbows and as a cuticle balm and a little goes a long way. The size of the balms is also just right for on the go and fits perfectly in my handbag for touch ups while out and about.

I love the silver and white packaging of the Help Me Ronda products as it's clean and simple. All orders come with a care card with general instructions such as making sure you test patch the products which is always important with any new skincare.

Review: Anna Sui nail care oil

I'm a bit of a cuticle product fanatic so I'm always on the lookout for new products to try. I love trying balms, oils, butters.. you name it. So how could I resist when I discovered this ABSO-FREAKING-LUTELY BEAUTIFUL limited edition Anna Sui nail care oil when I was in Hong Kong last year?! Ok ok I admit I'm biased though because I adore anything and everything Anna Sui especially when it comes to her nail products.

 photo IMG_1126copy_zpsde77be4e.png

The oil is housed in the beautiful signature Anna Sui dress shaped bottle which is very easy to hold and use considering the shape. The oil contains three tiers in purple, light pink and a bright pink - my favourite colours and just so girlie! It smells like roses as her other products do but I found it quite subtle compared to the other liquid based products I've tried from her makeup range.

The brush is flat and square - which for a polish I would most likely find a bit difficult to use and to get a clean finish but for a cuticle oil it's not a problem.

To use it, you need to give it a gentle shake to mix the 3 layers which forms a milky lavender shade. The formula is absolutely fantastic - it's wonderfully moisturising, non-sticky and most importantly very fast absorbing. When the sales assistant tried it out on me I was so surprised at how smooth the oil felt and how quickly it absorbed leaving my fingers feeling and smelling lovely and rose-y. A little goes a very long way and you only need a small swipe to hydrate your entire cuticle. The formula is silicone based and contains plant-derived squalene and smooth oil to lock in moisture and hydrate.

Overall: I am absolutely head over heels in love with the Anna Sui nail care oil. It smells amazing, absorbs quickly and is just so so beautiful! I can't recommend it enough and it's a must buy if you come across it. It's a bit on the pricier side at about $18Aus but a little goes a long way and it's Anna Sui. Enough said!

Details: I purchased my bottle from the Anna Sui stand at LCX in Harbour City in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong for $130HK (so about $18Aus). I found it available online from Urban Outfitters and beauty.com for $16US and YesStyle.com for $22US.

Review: Essence Hot Winter Drinks hand creams

I've been waiting for these Essence Winter Edition hand creams to be released here for ages after Moni mentioned them and they are FINALLY out!! Squeeeeeeeeee. They come in 3 different scents and they are super yummy - Caramel Hot Chocolate, Gingerbread Chai Latte and Apple Cinnamon Punch. And the best part? They are an absolute steal at only $2!!

 photo IMG_2709copy_zps6dc774c9.png

What they say:

"Do you prefer hot chocolate, chai latte or punch? With the new essence trend edition “24h hand protection balm –hot winter drinks”, the cold winter months are sure to turn into a real pampering experience.. softly fragranced combinations of aromatic hot drinks and wintertime delicacies such as caramel, gingerbread and cinnamon create the flair of cozy coffee shop visits with your best friend – you’ll soon forget the cold, wet weather outside!"

 photo IMG_2711copy_zps01257714.png

Caramel Hot Chocolate smells divine and just like a warm hot chocolate. I love sweet scented body lotions because you get the amazing smell without all the calories HAHA.

 photo IMG_2712copy_zps6b4b82cb.png

Apple Cinnamon Punch puts me in the mood for hot apple cider! The cinnammon isn't too strong once you apply it but in the tube smells quite strong.

 photo IMG_2710copy_zps0e57b531.png

Gingerbread Chai Latte is a mix of spices and does remind me of a chai latte. I can smell more cinnamon in this than the Apple Cinnamon Punch!

 photo IMG_2713copy_zpse85c0d23.png

Overall: These are an absolute steal and they smell so heavenly!! Good enough to eat!! They smell sweet but not too overpowering or sickly - except for Gingerbread Chai Latte which is my least favourite as I found it a bit too much after a little while. They absorb really quickly and don't leave any sticky residue. They aren't the most moisturising hand creams out there though so these are for on the go and definitely just for the lovely scents. But for $2 I ain't complaining!

They are the perfect handbag size which is fantastic because I can't go anywhere without hand cream. Plus you know I love LE Essence stuff so I just may have bought a few backup tubes and some for swaps Xp My favourite is Caramel Hot Chocolate.

Details: The Essence Winter Edition hand creams are available from Priceline and Target for $1.95.  They haven't sold very quickly so I've seen lots of near full displays!!

Do you like yummy smelling hand creams as much as I do? Thanks for looking as always!!

My cuticle and hand care routine

How I care for my cuticles is one of the most frequently asked questions I receive so here is my post for you finally. Being predominantly a nail blogger, I try to keep my cuticles and also my hands in presentable condition but alas I am waaaaay too lazy so I don't actually do much besides apply cuticle cream/oils! Below are the products I use and I thought I'd also show you what products I use for hand care as well as they go together ;) Please note - the products below work for me however they may not be suitable for you. It's a lot of trial and error and wasted $$ to find what works for you!

Now I use four different hand and cuticle products for different situations. For on the go I need something that is in a packaged in travel size and absorbs very quickly and isn't greasy; for work I like a product that's fast absorbing but also provides a barrier: at home I like products that smell nice and absorb quickly and overnight products that are VERY moisturising. This may seem a bit over the top but they all serve different purposes!

On the go - Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream*:

Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream* is ideal for on the go because it absorbs very quickly and doesn't leave a greasy residue. I hate greasy products when I'm out and about! I don't find it all that moisturising but it does stop my cuticles from drying out and it smells lovely and lemony. The texture is very waxy so it can be a bit hard to get out of the tin. It can be purchased from David Jones, Harrisons Pharmacies, Kleins Perfumery, Terry White Chemists and selected retail outlets for $14.95.

I actually prefer Beautysnapz Cuticle Conditioners* but I haven't pictured them here because I ran out and haven't restocked! =( I've reviewed them before though so check out my review here.

At work - Nfu Oh Cuticle Flower Oil (orange scented):

This beauty was gifted to me by my lovely friend Christina! Now some people are very against cuticle oils but my cuticles can get so dry and disgusting that they need the moisture burst that oils can give. Nfu Oh Cuticle Flower Oils smell divine and provide an instant moisture boost to my cuticles. Plus the bottle is just so damn sexy that it's worth using just for the bottle!! It sits pride of place at my desk x) I apply it when I've got a quiet moment; let it soak for a few minutes and then massage it in.
