Thawing out

I could tell you all not to get old , but age is inevitable and with it comes Arthritis , winter is not enjoyed in this house. I wander fromdoing a litttle bit here and little bit there.Instead of a whole house being vacumed I do a room at a time. Well enough of that. I finished off a larger bath mat to keep the tootsies warm in the bathroom. pattern and how to from Bubsrugz

Made bedsocks for some family members.

 and socks for others,

Finally getting around to Mmake Miss Molly Moo from Jenny, Miss Molly is in the right hand corner of her blog.
How do you cut out patterns? After printing I paste the sheet onto cardboard and then I have  stable pattern

pieces. I hope to start this , this weekend.

Turning scrap into squares, don't know where these are going///  have to cut out a lot more yet.

more scrap into covered journal folders, so easy so nice for gifts.

Go Away winter and leave me alone..

i’m tired of being chilled to the bone.

i want to plant flowers and sit in the sun

I want to go swimming “winters no fun!”

i want to open up windows and doors

i want to go barefoot and do summer chores

I want to mow grass and sit in the sun

i want to plant gradens  and have summer fun.

so go away winter and just leave me be

Summer is where I want now to be…

Winter in Ballarat and Queenscliffe7th and 8th July 2011

Beautiful Ballarat, Yes it certainly is a beautiful city. A tad cold in winter , this being that it is
441 metres (1447 feet) above sea level.Ballarat is an easy hours drive from Geelong. Our grandson is studying at the University in Ballarat , he was 22 earlier that week, that was our reason for the visit.
As we arrived in Bunninyong at 11.23 the temp was 6c. we watched the temp fall from 10 c when we left Geelong. The church featured is the Bunninyong Holy Trinity Anglican Church.
We went to the Lakeview Hotel for lunch ( a good meal ) the next couple of shots are across the lake from the footpath outside the Hotel.

and the renovations that are taking place. How do you like this pile of rocks ??
The remaining part of the hotel that has been refurbished is in the background.
No trip to Ballarat is complete without a trip to Bakery Hill were the gold miners put up a protest all those years ago. This is their flag.

Now the next day was equally as chilly as I headed down to Queenscliffe to have lunch with a friend . Abbey's accident kept me out of touch for awhile. But here we are in equally beautiful Queenscliffe . We have so many beautiful places to visit and only a short distance from Geelong .
A couple of years ago a  new Mariner was built and there is an observation tower that can be reached by climbing around the outside or taking a lift to the 3rd level. Being a chilly day we took the lift, which is a bit confronting as the lift doors open and reveal the Port Phillip Bay. The tower from along the broadwalk.
The ferry goes on the hour to Sorrento
The pilot boats are in demand every time a ship comes in to the Melbourne or Geelong ports, the pilot goes out through the heads and brings the ship in to the South chanell with ease. Book a table at the Queenscliffe Bowling club upstairs restaurant and watch the little orange boats go out.

Along this walk is Dolphin Swims who will take you out to South Channel Fort trip  this is a Parks Victoria website scroll down to the South Channel Fort and read the history. It tells about the time " when the Russians were coming" if you have been down to Portsea you will have seen the Cannon bunkers down there.
The 360 degree restaurant. I will be back with Keithums to have lunch here in summer.
There are plenty of restaurants to choose from , and a couple of gift and clothes shops , full occupation has not been achieved yet but it will come. You can get to the Queenscliffe ferry by local bus from Geelong . So Melbourne folk can have a lovely day out and catch the ferry across to Portsea and return home around the bay. But don't miss out on exploring Queenscliffe first.
My friend in the car. no name she is the shy sort. ( that will make her smile rol )

Enlarge this plaque and read about her ancestors. Don't miss out on going to the Queenscliffe Maritime Museum and learning about the Couta fisherman. and drive around the streets along the ferry area and see the original fisherman's houses. So much to do and see.
The back  beach ant Mr C Gull waiting to be fed.
 and looking back towards town
The bus waiting to take you back to the Geelong station.
Now I did get to make or half make a pair of very easy bedsocks. Until we meet again Cheers Margaret
