All the birthdays

One is definitely not a lonely number around here -
As a surprise for the little boys and their Poppi who also had a birthday, we visited the Melbourne Star Observation Wheel.

Can you tell we had fun?
Big 1 year olds aren't scared of heights.

Lachy's 1st birthday
Harvey's 1st birthday

 Cake, cake, cake
Mr CP did it again.
Another cake filled masterpiece.
He swears he is now retired from cake baking.

We had great fun at their joint pirate party.

My super smart big three year old chose pancakes for his birthday dinner - excellent choice!!
A brilliant excuse for me to eat pancakes :o)

It was an exhausting few weeks - in the midst of all the birthday craziness I went back to work and we had an offer accepted on a house. We find out this week if the clan is on the move.

I'm looking forward to a day in the sewing room tomorrow. It's much more appealing now that it is tidy.

Step Back in Time

Mr CP is not a baker. He's not a chef. He's never been trained but....
if you recall, he made this masterpiece for Harvey's birthday earlier in the year
In June he made this for my step-son who is of course a Dr Who addict.
It was brilliant!
My favourite part was that instead of fondant he made the icing with chocolate that he coloured. Soooo gooooood!

Mr CP's birthday is a few weeks before mine. I figured I had to go all out in order to encourage him to make me a special cake in return.
Not one to shy away from a challenge, I decided to make my first ever choux pastry and have a bash at making a croquembouche.
But oh, the pressure!
Mr CP had to spend the first few hours of his birthday sequestered in our bedroom while I filled the choux buns with decadent chocolate mousse and burnt the first batch of caramel.
Fortunately, he loved it and we all thought it tasted like it was worth the effort.
Birthday boy and the candle blowing helpers.

Then it was my turn....
Check out my Janome 6600!!!
A lovely lemon cake with a licqourice power cord and tic tac buttons.

Apparently, Mr CP has exhausted his cake making abilities but with Lachy's first birthday next year, he's still got at least one more to do before he hangs up his apron.

Mmmm I feel like cake....

HUMPTY TWO!!

The Fantastic Mr Fox, also known as Mr CP outdid himself with his cake baking skills.
Humpty Dumpty is a favourite character from Playschool at this house.
And it tasted as good as it looked!
Yep, my big boy is TWO!
He had a very happy birthday, honing his skills at ripping off wrapping paper, just like he should.

The Easter Bunny also did her job. Trying to explain that we didn't need to eat all of our chocolate in one go didn't go over all that well but then we distracted him with an egg hunt - there was one at the bottom of my Ugg boot. Not sure I would have eaten it....

And this kid, he's growing like a bean.
A chubby bean....
We spend lots of quality time snuggling together.
I sniff his head and soak up that babyness that I know will disappear all too quickly.
We are having a great time getting to know each other as our family of five.
