Jot Magazine July moodboard

When I saw the colours on the board for July over at Jot Magazine I knew I had to play along. Juicy oranges and gorgeous teals - yum!

This is the page I created for the challenge
We recently visited the Maleny Botanic Gardens which was really amazing. In conjunction with having stunning landscapes and views for miles, there is also a scrumptious Devonshire Tea, animal petting and a massive aviary. Inside, there are all manner of beautiful birds. Our close encounter of the feathered kind was so wonderful, we had to go in for another tour! If you are up that way, I would really recommend a visit.

The base of my page kind've happened by accident. I was showing my kids how to do an ink blot test and I went about messing around with different colours. A couple of sheets later, and I had this amazing background, which I think actually looks a bit like feathers.

Heidi Swapp clear card from a PL kit.

I've had feather cut files for ages, begging to be used. So I ran a couple different colours of Bazzill cardstock through my Silhouette as well as one of my favourite 'Niche' feather metal die cuts from My Mind's Eye, with my Cuttlebug.

Skeleton feather from the Silhouette online store.

All the elements have been layered and some of the feathers stitched for a bit of character.

To see the stunning examples by the Jot Girls and to join the challenge, you can link up your projects here.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Let's hear it for the boy - Jot magazine

Happy Sunday to you!

Have you heard that the stunning new Jot Magazine issue 5 is now live and chock full of inspiration!
I'm fortunate enough to have a couple of layouts in this one, including this ode to my DH, which
I created for the 'men' call with a song in my head.

The bright colours in the photo had me reaching for bold prints, (Glitz Design Finnley 'Bows').
The wording was cut using my Silhouette and then matted with more strong colours
(Glitz Wild & Free 'Hello Adventure')

The bright colours are echoed with rainbow machine stitching around the photo.
I've left a gap open where I've slipped my journalling inside.

I've created a kind of ombré effect inside the cut using a fine tipped coloured pen.

Head over for a peek with a cuppa and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Funtastic Glasses continued...

Hello again lovelies

How flippin' funny is this pic?! My dear fur 'nephews', are much-loved, much pampered pooches, full of personality. I was convinced this was a pic of the one, Hugo, debuting his sense of style! Turns out it's a rather famous pug called Norm! lol. (I fell for that one hook line and sinker!) Hope his mum doesn't mind me using this hilarious shot for the Jot Magazine colour challenge this month. Black is the new black daaaahling! The photo was taken by über talented Jeremy Veach. You can find him on Instagram #jermzlee.

I really had fun grabbing loads of black and white stuff out of my stash and seeing what could be used where. Base layer is a mix of silver and black embossing powder using a Crafter's Workshop Aztec template. I'm sure you've seen loads of these Greatest View arrow flair on my layouts. LOVE them!

I've given this 2Crafty chevron chippie a 'Microbead Makeover'. If you don't want any of the raw chipboard colour to show through, make sure you give it a slick of mist or paint beforehand.

This is the moodboard for August...

Thanks so much for stopping by. You can also find me on Facebook these days.

Till next time
