Approaching four, my DD is quite obsessed with Princesses and all things 'pretty'. She asks me if I can make her hair pretty, dress her in pretty clothes and asks how she can be prettier. I want her to understand that despite stereotypes (and I am guilty of trying to conform to these as well) no matter what she wears or how she looks, she is perfect in her own skin. A tough ask when all around we are bombarded with what 'ideal' is 'supposed' to be.
