Moose under orange and pink trees on my balcony and my orange dress

This tabllecloth is made out of  Ikea Algört stof . It was in my closet for some time and I didn't buy enough for my round table but this week I suddenly got the idea to use it out on the balcony. It cheers up the whole balcony see? It costs only 6,99 euro for one meter. It is a thick cotton and easy to wash in the washing machine. I only had to make four little seams.I made more tablecloths out of Ikea fabric. I like a lot of the designs they made, it is also cheap and good value for your money.

You can see, in the first picture, a small piece of the fabric of my dress I made last year. There is so much to see, it is like a town map and I like the colours. I kept it in my closet for maybe 20 years or so? I liked it so much I didn't want to cut it up... It was made by  Oilily  and I bought it back then in a outlet shop. I don't know if you can buy fabric from Oilily on the bold nowadays.

 It is just a simple dress. I used a pattern  for the top part but just gathered a rectangle of the fabric for the skirt and made a high waist.

The moment I put the dress on the ground Lizzy thought: Thank you and made herself comfortable:)

I thought if I didn't want to wear the dress anymore I am left with a good piece of fabric anyway to make something else out of it.

In Haarlem there is an antique market in spring and summertime sometimes on a Saturday. You can click on the link for the dates and address. I bought these small tablecloths. I might use the lace in a quilt sometime.

Quilt fabric (!) Skirt with pocket finished!

Vandaag heb ik deze rok afgemaakt. Het is gemaakt van een gratis patroon van Anna Maria Horner en Rachel van Stitched in Color organiseerde een sew-along. Ze 'knipte' de uitleg in stukjes zodat het makkelijk was te maken.

Finished this skirt using this  free pattern from Anna Maria Horner and this sew-along organised by Rachel from Stitched in Color . Rachel cut up the explanation in several steps so it looked much easier to make, which it was!

 Dit is de stof, quiltstof!, die ik gebruik van de Sampler in Haarlem. Het voelt een beetje als een retro-look vind ik en de stof voelt lekker zacht. Als voering gebruik ik een zachte muslin lap, die al oud is.

I used Quiltfabric from the quiltshop de Sampler in Haarlem. The fabric gives a bit of a retro feel to the skirt. Th linig is made of an old muslin fabric, very soft.

Allereerst de zelfkanten eraf met het kartelmes om rafeltjes te voorkomen.

I started with cutting of the selvedges and used this knife with a pinking blade to prevent unraveling of the fabric.

 

Ik heb de binnenkant en buitenkant niet helemaal precies op elkaar gelegd. Ik deed dit express. Mijn binnenkant is namelijk zo licht van kleur dat ik bang was dat hij zo op zou vallen tegen een rood of zwart t-shirt.

I didn't aline the in- and outside of the skirt excatly because you might see the light fabric coming out of the top of my skirt when I'm wearing it.

Hier is hij bijna klaar. De zoom moet er nog in en de elastiek einden moeten nog netjes weggewerkt..
Makkelijk om te maken. Het elastiek inrijgen duurt wel even, maar dat was een mooi klusje op het balkon, in de zon :)

Voordat ik verder ging heb ik nog een zak gemaakt. Gewoon een zak van een andere rok die ik aanhad nagetekend. Lekker makkelijk voor je sleutels of telefoon ;)

Before I finished it I suddenly thought of a pocket. I drawed a pocket from the skirt I was wearing. I like a pocket for keys or telephone.

De zak gespeld op dubbele stof en  uitgesneden 

I pinned the pocket pattern on the double fabric en cut it out.

De eerste zakhelft is aan het voorpand vastgestikt.

First pocket halve stitched to the front part of the skirt.

De twee zakhelften zijn aan het voor- en achterpand gestikt.

 Both pocket halves are attached to the skirt front and back part.

 De 2 zakdelen op elkaar genaaid en met de zig-zag steek afgewerkt.

The two halves of the pocket stitched together and finished with a

 De zak bijna onzichtbaar.

De lengte van mijn rok heb ik het liefst op of net onder mijn knie ( ik ben niet zo jong meer als Rachel is;))

I like the lenght of the skirt just under or on my knee (I'm not as young as Rachel is anymore;))
