Please only ONE link per week. Lastly, if you link in, LINK back to my blog, so everyone can see all of the vintage goodies on display that day. If you don't link back here, they won't know who to visit......thanks so much. Lastly, try to make an effort to visit the other participants. I know myself, I get so behind and busy, but this year, I am going to do my best to visit each week.

I have mentioned before, how I always seem to find three of something when out thrifting instead of four. That still rings true! I found a wonderful set of three restaurant ware mugs in this stunning turquoise and white color. These were a real bargain at twenty-five cents a piece.

The marking is like none I have seen before. I love these and have been back a few times hoping some more will turn up on the shelves, so far, nothing. However, I do love the colors of these and was happy to bring them home!

Happy Vintage Thingie Thursday!!

To be honest, my new thrift shop is really making me happy these days! I have found the mother load of great items in the past week. One thing they seem to always have are great restaurant ware pieces. I have purchased way more than I needed to, but some of it will end up in my etsy shop.

This small single serve vegetable bowl is just adorable....I wish there would have been more pieces, but for twenty-five cents...I brought it home!

Here is the label on the back, and it is the only piece I have that has this marking.

Happy Vintage Thingie Thursday!!! Hope you all have a great week, thanks for all the lovely comments last week on my chenille bedspread....I am still over the moon with that purchase!

Most know I have an obsession with platters. I have a wall of platters, and I have talked about it in this post. The only problem is, in the pictures of the precious post, there are only one platter in each slot, now, I am afraid there are three in most all. While I was moving some things around the other day, I noticed this one that I have hanging on the wall. It is one of my favorites.

I love the window and the flowers growing on the trellis. I really need to think about thinning my collection down, but I can not find the gumption to know what to decide to get rid of....I love them all! Yes, it is a problem.

Have a great Vintage Thingie Thursday!!

This week, I have a couple of cute finds that I have not done anything with since I brought them home. I had thought to keep them, but I may end up listing them in my etsy shop.

I think the vintage yellow and the cute bees make for a sweet set of canisters. They have a little wear and tear, but for the most part, they are still great shape.

Have a great week everyone!! I am trying to muster up the energy to get some things done around here on my last few days off of work! Wish me luck. Have a great Vintage Thingie Thursday!!

Vintage Thingie Thursday: Vintage Rooster Dishes

A few weeks ago, I stopped in at my new (to me) favorite thrift store. I was walking around looking at all the goodies and soon spotted six of these dinner plates. No markings, but they are really cute and I had to have them. They were 25 cents a piece, so how could I leave them? These green country rooster, weather vein inspired plates are adorable.

That particular day, this was all I found,  just the six plates. This happens so many times, I find bits and pieces and have to decide if I like them enough to purchase them or leave them for someone else to discover.

About a week in a half later I stopped again to see if there were any treasures I might need.....

I could hardly believe it....the small saucers and bowls that matched my plates. Six of each. Oh, I could not get them in the cart fast enough. I never would have thought I'd happen on these again. I wondered how long they had sat there waiting on me to find them! A week? A day? A few minutes?

I never did find the cups, but that is fine by me. The small plates are more like dessert plates as are the small bowls. They look like a rooster weather vane to me....very cute. I made the mistake to try and research this design..big mistake...found more pieces and a few other things I am really trying to not purchase. After all, how many plates do I need? There are only two people who live here now!

Happy Vintage Thingie Thursday!

Did I mention the fact I am working on downsizing things at my house? Truly, I am. I have been working on that for a while and even though I am making progress, it is still impossible not to bring vintage finds home with me on occasion. I really have cut my treasure hunting down to very, very little. Funny thing is, once I made the decision to do that, I have not missed it all that much.

The local school had a sale and I found a couple of great vintage china pieces that I really fell in love with and could not leave them on the table. I love the pink roses in this small platter.

Here is the logo, I believe this is Taylor Smith & Taylor. I have never seen this logo before and tried to poke around on the internet and could not find any thing on it. I will have to keep looking.

I also found a great plate with beautiful roses. Too bad there was only one of these plates, but it came home with me none the less. Back is stamped Saxon China. I love the colors. Love them.

I always find lots of pink roses on china patterns, but rarely find any with rich colors like this plate has!! I love it!!

Have a great Vintage Thingie Thursday!!

Vintage Thingie Thursday: Half Price Day at Goodwill!

Welcome everyone to Vintage Thingies Thursday. If you have a love for vintage things, well....you have come to the right place. We have a really good time each and every week!!!

Today was the monthly sale day at our local Goodwill Store. Everything is half price. I usually try and avoid days like this because of all the people. But today I stopped by and was glad I did.

I found this little dish sitting on a shelf, it was pretty dirty, but I picked it up anyway. I could not really read the mark on the back as the sticker was covering it up. I knew it was vintage and it has a sort of appeal  that I love in vintage dishes, so I put it in my basket.

The price was marked .50 cents...so half price was only .25 cents.....could not leave it!!! I thought the little flower had a chip but turns out, it was made like that.

Here is the other side of the flower. I think this is really a neat piece and it cleaned up just super!!

Vintage Thingie Thursday: Vintage Platter Storage

Welcome everyone to Vintage Thingies Thursday. If you have a love for vintage things, well....you have come to the right place. We have a really good time each and every week!!!

A while ago, someone emailed me and asked where I store all my vintage dishes. I did a post back in 2008 in regards to some of my storage solutions, so I decided to show my laundry room again since it has been a while.

I use every available space I have to display my most favorite plates and treasures. This vintage drainboard sits on top of my washer and holds plates and a few cups.

My son installed the cabinets which hold all the not so pretty things along with the shelf above the washer and dryer. I am so glad my son is handy like that!!

This piece was a one of a kind sorta find for me. Several years ago, it was listed on craigslist and we drove over an hour to pick it up. It is hand made by the original owner's father and she did not want it any more. I paid $150.00 for it and consider it a real bargain. It is one of my favorite things.

It holds all my platters and plates perfectly, some spaces are doubled up on plates and platters. It holds a lot!! I refuse to count, but trust me, over 100 for sure! This photo is not a recent photo and trust me, when I say EVERY slot is filled with most likely two plates or platters per slot!! It is a workhorse for storage!

I use every spare inch of space that I can. The top holds all of my vintage restaurant-ware creamers. I even have some plates on the back wall!

I love how they are all lined up in rows!! Pretty.

I am glad I have space in my laundry room to house some of my treasures! I know some are  not so lucky with their laundry space.

Happy Vintage Thingie Thursday!!

Running out of space?

More often than not my husband likes to remind me of his thoughts......."You can't have everything... where would you put it?"..............

I gently remind him......."Honey....there is a place for all my treasures!"

Remember....beauty is in the eye of the beholder....and I see beauty  here.....my husband.....not so much!

In the garden I tend to drop my thoughts here and there. To the flowers I whisper the secrets I keep and the hopes I breathe. ~Dodinsky

Vintage Thingie Thursday: Vintage Dog Finds

I came across a new thrift store in town last week, I remember seeing it advertise on television but did not remember where it was, luckily I stumbled upon it all on my own. I did not find too much, but I did find this little Scottie dog ash tray.

It is white and although it has a few burn marks on the bottom, it is still cute to me! By the way, I do not smoke and no one in my home smokes, these types of ash trays just appeal to me. I have another one very similar but it has a bird on it. I thought I had showed you guys that one before, but could not find the link.

I think this is so sweet....look at that little guy.

Now, I found this at a antique store close to my house. The lady said it was a ash tray, but I don't know about that. It just does not look like a ash tray to me. No matter, I bought it because of the two little dachshunds.

It does have a little open tray in front, maybe for change. I loved this one especially because it had two doxies. Sure wish I could find something that had THREE doxies on it!! Now that would be a find!!

Happy Vintage Thingie Thursday!! Have a great week!!

Vintage Thingie Thursday: Surley This Won't Be A Habit

Welcome everyone to Vintage Thingies Thursday. If you have a love for vintage things, well....you have come to the right place. We have a really good time each and every week!!!
If you are new to this party, please take the time to

You guys are not going to believe this...why?  Well...because I don't really believe it myself. So, if I don't believe it, how can I expect you to??? Remember the post from the very first Vintage Thingie Thursday for the new year?? The post about that adorable china plate? The one in which I had never, ever seen the pattern before? The one that I said in all my treasure hunting, I had never seen a single piece from this china set?? Yea....that one!.......are you sitting down?????

Look what I happened to find today. Yes...TODAY.....at half price day at Goodwill. Now mind you I was at a different Goodwill than the one I found the plate but still.....it was there. ( the jug is in perfect condition, the photo looks like it is damaged, but that is the sheet it is sitting on)

I usually for the past few months have just bypassed the half price day because it is such stressful time. So many people and if you get there early, the people are wrapped around the store waiting to get in. Then it is like what you would imagine it to be like at a bank if they announced they were giving away free money....it is a frenzy!! So I have just avoided it. But today,  I made the stop today in the afternoon. In all honesty, I almost did not even stop as I figured everything was already gone.

But this was sitting right on the shelf like it was waiting on me! I even think this jug let out a sigh of relief that I had finally made it there and picked it up....I kid.....I was the one letting out a sigh that no one else had gotten their hands on it during the morning rush....and seriously....why had not one person wanted this?

The price was marked $8.00 and I only paid $4.00 for this wonderful piece. Tell me what are the chances of that happening? I am still stunned!! Maybe with a little patience and more Goodwill shopping, the rest of these darling china pieces will show up on the shelves!! But in all actuality, I don't believe this will become a habit of being able to post about finding new pieces...surely this was just a fluke.....but I am going to stay hopeful!

(I had a post all ready for today, but it will have to wait until next week...this one really took me back a bit so I could not wait to share.)

Happy Vintage Thingie Thursday!!!
