flea market finds.

over the weekend, i dragged mum down the road to the kongwak market. it had been an age since i'd been!

we had a quick look around, and i spotted a stall with some vintage suitcases...

and i may have found a one to add to my collection!

but the one that caught my eye...

caught my eye because of what was INSIDE!

this wasn't an empty vintage suitcase...

but was filled with lovely vintage-y picnic gear!

isn't it fabulous?

i'll admit, it all does need a good clean. but it was far too awesome to leave behind!
and i LOVE those little food storers above!

have you ever been to the kongwak market? do vintage suitcases catch your eye? where is your favourite picnic spot?

flea market finds.

it's been a while since i've played along because honestly it's been a while since i've been op-shopping. i think you really have to be in the right state of mind to go op-shopping, you've got to be in a patient mood to sort and sift through stuff to find the little something you're looking for.

thursday afternoon, after posting off my bunting flags, i popped into my local op-shop and almost the first thing i saw was this little milk jug, which perfectly matches another of my finds!

i also found a bigger jar for my rice and a couple of pairs of work pants for bb. i then went back to the same op-shop the next day with a friend and found a couple of work skirts and a nice sweater dress :D

flea market finds.

this weekend just gone, bb and i headed off on a weekend away to lorne. it was a great adventure for the two of us as both of us had grown up on the south east coast of victoria and therefore had never spent much time on the south west coast.
my main priority once we got there on friday night was to hunt down an op-shop or two. we found one on the main street that said it was open 10-4 every day (optimistically, no it really said optimistically!)

before lunch the next day we headed back down. after a quick look around (wasn't really in the mood for a dig through anything...) we were about to head out when i spotted this high up on a shelf.

it was love at first sight and i knew it was destined to be mine.

i have no idea what i want to do with it, or what i should keep in it, but i'm very excited to have it home and sitting on top of my heater!

flea market finds.

this week (well actually last week), i found this cute little perfume atomiser.
again it's not actually vintage, but i'm quite happy about that! this way it doesn't smell of someone else's perfume, i can make it my very own! i'm also very happy because i've been lusting after one for ages, well one that didn't come with this in it...

flea market finds.

i actually found this one a while ago and had forgotten alllllll about it until i was rummaging around in my cupboard trying to get organised on thursday!
in fact i think i found it the same day i found these, which i also forgot about for a while (definitely need to start keeping a diary again...)
in any case, this lovely specimen, isn't actually vintage as it still had the retail sticker in perfect condition on the bottom. however with such a cute pattern and at such a nice price ($4 from memory...) i couldn't let it go. not to mention the other tea pots i own are tiny in comparison!

flea market finds!

happy easter sunday all!
hope you're all having a wonderful morning and you haven't eaten too much chocolate!
i have a find to share this week, and it may cause you to experience a little deja vu...
whilst having a quick oppie browse in my lunch break, i found something that looked a little familiar to me... a suitcase virtually identical to the one i found a while ago...
after a quick shout out on twitter, my friend heidi asked me to have a second look at it for her, and as it was in perfect condition and at a fair price, i snapped it up for her.

i'm still looking after it for her at the moment, but as you can see, it's getting along with it's twin swimmingly, even if it is slightly bigger!

flea market finds.

some finds that i had actually clean forgotten about!
these were found at a little op shop (a lions one i think), in blackburn, a couple of week ago whilst shopping with brianna.

four pairs of button earrings in four different colours, for the very cheap price of $2! 50 cents a pair! an absolute bargain even though i will most definitely be giving them a good soak in listerine before any of them adorn my earlobes.

flea market finds.

a couple of finds from the little op-shop jaunt on friday...

a new pair of sunglasses (the old ones keep falling apart!), a scrapbook in mint condition, a picture book (i have a creative plan for these...) AND a cute little floral pillowcase (destined to be bunting i think).
just a few bits and pieces that made me happy!

oh and something else i bought that made me happy...

this shirt from jeanswest. it looks not too special. but that's my brother on the shirt, biting that record.
makes it quite special indeed :D

hope your weekend has been lovely and you can have a look at some more flea market finds here.

flea market finds.

on my day off on thursday, as well as doing all that cleaning (and a little bit of rippling)... i managed to get along to the opening of the mill park savers store. it was my first savers shopping experience and while i found the clothes sections a little over whelming...

i managed to get my thrift on in the shoes and kitchenwares sections... bargain demin style flats and a lovely vintage pair of salad tongs (my soon to be neighbour got a pair that were almost identical. matching salad tongs!)

aaaaaaaaaaaaaand in the suitcase section. i am SO in love with this little gem and i'm SO glad i didn't put it back (it came VERY close)

and as you can see, it's playing along nicely with my other vintage travel type cases and prettying up my loungeroom :D

hope your weekend has been terrific and if you've want to play along with flea market finds, pop over and visit sophie.

flea market finds.

so i've had blog posts floating around in my brain all weekend but just haven't had the time or means to get the words down and the pictures taken, be prepared for the avalanche of posts to come!

i was completely stoked this week to actually get a chance to pop into one of my local opshops. it feels like it's been forever! normally when i'm opping, i just hang around the edges of the shop. i look at the bags and shoes and haberdashery and books and crockery and pans and such, but on this day, i went straight to the clothes racks and BOY was i rewarded :D

i found this amazing green, lacy, light and floaty dress AND a lacy black camisole to go underneath the dress as it's a little see-through. i did however underestimate the transparency of the skirt, it's completely see through!! i think i may need to invest in a half slip, or perhaps i'll invest some time and pop one together (feeling a little inspired thanks to liesl...)
i also found a cotton lace top, very cute and very summery, however i currently can't find it! probably says a lot about the state of my house at the moment... blogging definitely trumps housework!

as well as my op-shop finds this week, i was also gifted a massive bag of second-hand clothes from my lovely friends who were moving house so had an epic closet de-stash! it's like i've got a whole new wardrobe! now if i could just get some time off work so i could wear some of it ha ha!

flea market finds. slightly illegal edition.

so this isn't a new flea market find, it's not even technically a 'flea market' find.
it's a stolen from hard rubbish find. why let something go to landfill when you can find a use for it yourself?

i picked up this large and lovely specimen last year just before the last hard rubbish pickup.
i love it because it's so solid and heavy, unlike most of my other ikea furniture...
anywho, the reason i'm talking about my table today is that it's in pretty bad nick. i'm almost certain that before it got turfed onto the nature strip, it was an outdoor table, used by someone's grandkids as a painting palette.
while i'm sure it served it's purpose quite well as a palette/footrest/pot stand/whatever else, it's time for it to serve it's purpose as my beautiful coffee table.
today is renovation day!
i've got my reno clothes on, my hair tied back and my protective eye wear on (sunglasses).

after 30 minutes of sanding with my* orbital sander, this is how far i've gotten. could be a very long afternoon...

while i'm slaving away, sanding away years of glass rings and acrylic paint mixes, you should do two things:
1) visit the home of flea market finds. sophie is having a giveaway today too, so you should join in!
2) bid on my flood relief auction. you could win an amazing handmade crochet blanket, designed by you! it also ENDS TODAY! get on it!

* technically, it's my dad's sander. having actually used it more than he has, i'm claiming it as my own.

flea market finds.

a very successful week of op-shopping i must say!
first brianna and i visited many an op/second-hand/antique shop in lang lang and kooweerup. i took a ridiculous amount of photos on my phone but with a dead screen, they're more than a little tedious to get at...

later in the week, during a visit to my grandma with my mum, i went for a sneaky visit to an oppie in moe, around the corner from where my mum was taking my grandma grocery shopping.

along with a nice haul of lovely floral fabrics, a few books, some buttons and other crafty bits and pieces, i found five tea-cups, in wonderful condition, all with matching saucers, and for less than $2.50 each! bargains!!!
i have great plans for these tea-cups... involving many afternoons of high tea :D scones and finger sandwiches and cupcakes, oh my!

flea market finds.

oooooopsies. i'm a little late with this one. just a day though...
and it's for a good reason, i was actually studying yesterday huzzah! motivation has struck when exams are only a day away (not the greatest timing there...)

for aforementioned reasons, not a lot of op-shopping going on here, so here's one i prepared earlier (and by that i mean bought about a month ago)

i found this cute little belt the same day i found my < href="http://coledabbles.blogspot.com/2010/09/flea-market-finds.html">vintage sunnies (so maybe more than a month ago then...)
i lurrrrrrrrrve it because
a) it was 99 cents. that's LESS than a dollar! amazing
and
b) it matches my peacock shoes almost perfectly! i can match my shoes to my belt and pretend i'm a stylish fashionista (i like to dream you see...)

flea market finds.

on thursday night i ventured out with some girlfriends to the mister mode night market.

it was a pretty awesome night... it was held in an old warehouse, with recently paint-splattered walls ( i believe there was a uni 'splatter' party there week before last).

there was music and a bar! i was good and didn't have any mid-week drinkies though.

sooooo many vintage goodies!!! and at amazing prices too!

i could justify buying new clothes, as i had taken 3 bags of clothes to the op-shop the day before. it kinda made me wish i hadn't donated them and had my own stall! could've made some cash, and then spent all my profits! next time definitely, well i hope there's a next time anyway!

so my flea market finds? i picked up 3 lovely dresses, 2 fancy-going out on the town type ones, and one more casual one which are all currently drying in the sun on the washing line aaaaaaaaaand.....

a pair of VERY cute shoes (that fit like a glove!) and this adorable bag.
i'm off to go and try and get those black scuff marks off the shoes now!
hope you're having a happy sunday!

flea market finds.

oh my goodness, it's been more than a week? where did all that time go to? damn uni, sucking up all my creativity/opshopping time!

i did however manage to get a little flea market-ing done today. i dragged my brother out of bed and to the kongwak market with me (in my mum's car, which is a manual, LOTS of stalling).

it had been a while since i'd been, but it's the same, a literal treasure trove!

so many little stalls and pockets of second-hand vintagey goodies. and some quite lovely food too. there were two young girls playing folk versions of pop songs with guitars that set a lovely tone for the whole event :D i just wish i wasn't so stressed from the driving to enjoy it a bit more ha ha!

they also had a few organic and local produce stalls, some lovely looking vegies and wine!

unfortunately, rent is due VERY soon, and the rent account is still very empty, so apart from a snag in bread, i left the market empty handed.

my flea market find is actually a garden that was down the road a little from the market.

i thought it was a community type garden at first, on second looks though, i think it's actually a little close to the house to be a community garden. i had a sneaky wander through anyway. i figure if you didn't want people wandering through, you'd put up fences right?

flea market finds.

playing along this week for the very first time :D

i did a meeeeeeeeeeean number on the op-shop close to my house thursday looking for a suit for uni.
i found a suit, and a matching vest, and an amazing skirt aaaaaaaaaaaaaand
these...

yup they're amazing! love them to death and just what i need coming into sunshiney spring :D
now i just have to try not to break them in my bag (the fate of the last 3 pairs of sunglasses i've had).

i so so so love op-shopping.
