Present Shape Card

I couldn't help but play with this kit some more! I love it! Wouldn't this line make the sweetest wall banner for a little girl's room?

Anyway, I designed this on my Gypsy™ in London while we were on vacation there. I looked up the papers and thought it would make a cute present shape card.

I used the polka dotted flocked transparency, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist™ and Stickles™ - all came with the kit. For the glimmer mist, I simply sprayed it on a paper towel and used it to "ink" the edges of the accordion cut and tag cut.

Recipe:
Artful Delight November Kit
Cartridges: Sweethearts™ and Tie the Knot™ (tag)
Button: Paper Trey Ink™
Twine: Paper Trey Ink™
Adhesive: Glue Arts Extreme Adhesive Squares™ and Martha Stewart Gel Adhesive™
Sentiment: Hero Arts™
Embossing Powder: A la Mode - white™
Heating Tool: Coloriser by EK Success™

Instructions:

  1. Weld two short presents together from Sweethearts (there is a tall present version as well).
  2. Create another front of present. Cut out of flocked transparency.
  3. Use layer of bow and cut out of desired paper.
  4. Adhere flocked transparency layer to front of card.
  5. Use Stickles where lines of box and bow would be. Let dry.
  6. Adhere bow to box.
  7. Cut one 1.75" circle tag from Tie the Knot™.
  8. Ink edges using Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist™ that has been sprayed on a paper towel.
  9. Cut one 1.25" blank monogram feature from Tie the Knot™ (found on the lips page).
  10. Stamp sentiment onto blank monogram feature scalloped circle, and heat emboss with white embossing powder.
  11. Cut a .75"x8" strip of paper and score every .25". Bend into accordion shape and put one Extreme Adhesive Square™ at the end of it to hold the two ends of the paper together. (I LOVE those squares!)
  12. Use two more Extreme Adhesive Squares to adhere accordion shape to tag.
  13. Use hot glue to adhere sentiment stamped scallop circle to accordion.
  14. Tie a bow with the twine through the button after looping it around the tag.
  15. Adhere button and twine to card using hot glue.
  16. Put it on the top of a present or attach it to a gift bag and give it to someone special! :)

This picture is just to show you the flocked transparency. Those purple polka dots are flocking on the clear transparency. How cool is that? So my present is actually shiny in real life.

Enjoy your day today and I hope it is fabulous! :)

This card also qualifies for Jenny at Wee Memories' Birthday Bash Challenge where Artful Delight is a sponsor this week!!! Head on over and play! Happy Blog Birthday Jenny!!!

WMC#20-In the Forest

This is my last project as a Design Team member for August at Wee Memories. I have had such a great time on this team and they are such a talented group of ladies. Thank you so much Jenny for the opportunity!

This week is sponsored by Third Coast Rubber Stamps. The winner will get a $25 Gift Certificate to their store!

Ann on the DT got to choose the theme this week and it is "In the Forest". I saw this cute tree on the Sweethearts Cartridge™ and really wanted to make a tree-shaped card.

I wanted to get some kind of critter in there though and thought the bees from Sentimentals Cartridge™ would be perfect.

I welded the blackouts of the tree together on my Gypsy™.
Then I created another brown layer for the front and embossed the brown with the A2 Forest Branches Emboss Folder™.
Next I used my Bo Bunny™ dot paper for the top of the tree. I pop-dotted it (that is now a verb).
I cut out the leaves from Cricut™ paper.
The hearts were cut from Core'dinations card stock, ran through the Cuttlebug™ with the A2 Swiss Dots Emboss Folder™, and then I put Glossy Accents™ on them. I pop-dotted them as well.
The bumble bees were cut from Bazzill™ Diamond Glaze card stock, the vinyl from the back of a binder, and DCWV™ neutrals stack.

I hope you like it! I can download the Gypsy™ file for you if you would like and email it to you.

Have a wonderful weekend. I will be buzzin' around the San Francisco Bay area and am headed to a concert tonight!

May Arts is the sponsor this week so head on over to Wee Memories, play along, and see what you might win!

Recipe:
Cartridge: Gypsy Wanderings™
Embossing: A2 D'vine Swirl Emboss Folder™ (cupcake top), A2 Swiss Dots Emboss Folder™ (cherries)

Cricut Circle and Wee Memories

Eek! This morning I just finally took the plunge and decided to become a Circlet. I got the invitation back in June, but just didn't know enough about it to decide whether or not to join. Now I know a little more and will definitely be deciding whether it was worth it later on... I don't do "impulse buys" or really spend money superfluously on myself very often at all. My husband was thrilled that I would make an "I just really want this" decision. Haha. Now I can't wait to get my welcome pack!!!

This is the final day to get your submissions into the Wee Memories Challenge. The theme is butterflies. Hurry! Mr. Linky closes in 15 hours!

Don't forget about my giveaway. I woke up this morning and both cartridges were on my doorstep. I ordered them on the 9th! How fast is that! Love it and excited that at least one will be leaving me and heading to one of you! They do look so cute though... I could renege and keep both... Nah, I'll keep the contest going ;)

Also, especially if you're a scrap booker, check out the layouts the Design Team made over at the Cuttlebug Challenges!

That's all for today! Happy Friday! My mom is coming up to San Francisco today and I am excited to have "mommy and me" time.

Tomorrow I will have posts for both my project for the Cuttlebug Challenges AND WeeMemories. I am very excited about both.

OTWC#18, WMC#16, PKS#34, CricutCardzChallenge#36

I love this card! I think it came out SO cute! I think that's probably bad to say about one's own cards, but sometimes you just like them. I hope you do too!

I made this from the Peachy Keen Stamps Challenge #34 sketch. Sketches do tend to make one's life easier and that combined with a color challenge at Off The Wall Craftiness made this a perfect card to make while watching a movie.

I am currently addicted to the chip board I got over at Torendi so I had to add that chipboard heart.

This card is so front loaded with materials and pop dots that it almost falls over towards the front when standing up! Do they make weights to put on the back of your cards in case of excessive embellishment-ing? haha.

Recipe:
A2 sized card
Paper: DCVW, K&Co.
Cartridge: Elegant Cakes™ (border, double sided and welded in Gypsy™), Wild Card™ (rectangles and circles)
Embossing: A2 Leafy Branch Emboss Folder™
Ribbon

This card therefore qualifies for the following challenges:
Off The Wall Craftiness #18: Navy blue, white, and yellow

Peachy Keen Stamps #34: Sketch

Wee Memories: Chipboard
Cricut Cardz Challenge #36: Birthday card for a teenager - I thought this would make a cute sweet 16!

Torendi/EAD designs/WMC#16 Hello Bird!

This is going to be a fun post with lots of links to products and blogs that I am coming to LOVE!

Jenn over at Torendi's Blog had a contest a while back that I won for a free roll of washi tape! So I not only ordered that but ordered another washi tape, a "mini deck" by Cosmo Cricket™ (Material Girl), a "wee bundle" from Sassafras™ (Indie Girl), some Cosmo Cricket™ (I spell Cricket -Cricut- every time now! I just realized I did that in all my posts before! Oh dear!) Earth Love chip board pieces (on sale for $2.50!), and Jillybean Soup "bean stalks" a.k.a. ribbon ($3!).

Thank goodness because Jenny at Wee Memories made chip board her challenge this week).

SO, that came in the mail on Saturday and I was SO excited, but I had to finish up the Christmas Around the Clock over at Cuttlebug Challenges first! One I commit to something I have to finish it. Anyway, I finally got to play with my new Torendi products and I am THRILLED. Her sale is still going on right now so go check it out!

Also, a little while ago my EAD Designs Stickerz and Rub-ons came in the mail so I wanted to use a few of those too!

Recipe:
This is an A2 sized card (4.25x5.5").
Cartridge: Elegant Cakes™, Gypsy Wanderings™ (scallop edge welded to rectangle with the Gypsy™)
Embossing: A2 Combo Friends Forever™
Paper: Cosmo Cricket™ (via Torendi) Material Girl Mini Deck, Core'dinations™
Tape: Washi - "pink" with polka dots - it comes out more of a lavender color.
Stickerz: EAD Rainy Day set (flowers which I colored in purple)
Sentiment: EAD Right on Target
Chipboard: Cosmo Cricket™ via Torendi™ Earth Love chip board pieces

This qualifies for:
Wee Memories Challnege #16: use chipboard (this was my first time using chipboard! It's so much fun!)

Christmas Around the Clock Challenges 4-6, WMC#15

Just a short (written) post today with three projects and recipes. I will tell you that stamping on tile is a LOT harder than it looks! It kept smearing on me! haha.

Challenge #4: Ink an embossing pad, emboss, and then create a scene. (I thought the embossing folder would look like candy canes so that was kind of what I was going for)

Recipe:
Card Stock: white and DCVW™ - size A2
Embossing: A2 Organic Border Emboss Folder™
Corner Punch: Martha Stewart™ rain drops
Stamping: Recollections™ Winter Wonderland set
Coloring: Copic™ makers Ciao set
Shiny things: Glossy Accents™, Memory Box™ pearls, Hero Arts™ Hero Hues Gems
Ribbon
Ink: VersaColor™ - Neptune, Momento™ - Rich Cocoa, ColorBox™ -Black

Challenge#5: Stamping on Ceramic Tiles

Recipe:
Stamps: Recollections™ Winter Wonderland, Martha Stewart Crafts™ (letters for Lee Family)
Ink: StazOn™ Black, Brown, Sharpie™ Markers (lavender, gold, brown)

Challenge #6: Embossed Tag

Recipe:
Stamping: Martha Stewart Crafts™ (letters for "To: From:")
Emossing: A2 Snowflakes Emboss Folder™ (super find at Michaels for $3.59)
Cut: Designer's Calendar™
Eyelets: Crop-a-dile™
Red Ribbon

The first two (technically all three, but just words might not count) qualify for Wee Memories Challenge #15 - Stamping!

WMC14-Summer Fun

Whew! I was about to go to sleep and remembered I hadn't done a challenge for Jenny at Wee Memories! It is due in 39 minutes! So I quickly got out my stamps and stamped this card into existence. And I know it's kind of silly, but I love it! I will be looking for a stamp that says "love birds" because I REALLY wanted to own one to put on this card!

I love just being out in nature and looking at flowers and gardening (I walked through a community garden today - it was gorgeous!). So this is what I think of when I think of summer time.

I still only have the one stamp set from Hero Arts™ and these are all the little stamps that come between the sayings. I had a great time doing this!

4th of July!

Well, my friend Aubrey sent me some goodies in the mail and they are all over this card! The ribbon and the buttons are all from her (Thank you!).

4th of July and the sailboat are both cut from Designers Calendar™ cartridge. The "4th of July" didn't have a shadow feature, so I just cut it out a little bit bigger and I think it still looks great!

I embossed the sailboat with two folders: the A2 Swiss Dots Embossing Folder™ and the A2 Combo Birthday Wishes™ folder. I just used the part below the candle tops. I love the striped look!

The paper is kraft, DCWV neutrals (dark and light blue), and the DCWV Taj Mahal stack.

This card qualifies for three challenges:
Wee Memories: red, white, and blue
The Cuttlebug Spot: Independence Day
Cricut Carz Challenge: 4th of July

My best friend Kourt is active duty in the Air Force right now (she just graduated from medical school!) and I think I'll be sending this to her. I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe 4th of July.

Just Saying Hello - WMC11 and OTWC12

I knew what I wanted to do with this card since the weekend, but haven't had time to sit down and put it together. Last night I stayed up a little too late because I just had to do it. :)

I welded the triangles from a liner feature on the Wild Card Cartridge™ to a rectangle liner also from Wild Card Cartridge™. I hid the inner triangle on the layer with the new hide contour feature and of course played around with the shapes and sizes. I also found the oval on the frame feature on the Wild Card Cartridge™ as well. So while none of these shapes were intended for use the way I used them, that's what's so great about Provo Craft™! I did it all on my Gypsy™ and then cut it out.

I finally decided to use my EAD Background Flourish Stickerz that I won over at The Caffinated Cropper - aka Amy's blog (THANKS AMY!). I haven't wanted to use them because then they would be GONE, but since one of these challenges that I'm entering it in might win my crafting supply drawer more stickers, I decided it was worth the risk. :) These Stickerz are just SO much fun to work with!

I stamped the sentiment with my Hero Arts™ stamps and away we go!

This was made for the following challenges in mind:
Off the Wall Craftiness:Mint, White, Black and a splash of Red

Wee Memories Challenge #11 : Stickers!

Balloon Card :)

This is another cut from the Summer in Paris Cartridge™ that I just knew I had to make into a card on the Gypsy™. I cut it as just over 4 inches and all the swirls cut out fine, but the strings that attach to the base of the balloon were VERY delicate and I did end up breaking one. So I would cut it larger next time for that.

I stitched with my little white gel pen around the edges and added a small yellow bow. The sentiment on the inside is from my new Hero Arts™ sentiment stamps that Kourt got me - I'm a bit obsessed with them right now as I've never been able to add sentiments! :)

This card qualifies for the following challenges:
Wee Memories: Stitching
Cricut Cardz Challenge: Vacation Theme

I also made it for BBTB2: Summer theme with a stamp, but unfortunately by the time I got an SD card the contest had closed. Oh well. Their next challenge is to use a fish. I don't even know if I have a fish on my cartridges, but I know I have a whale - I think that counts! :)

The color is off because I am using my little point and shoot right now. The color of the card matches the picture of the front of the card. The inside came out more yellow than it actually is.

Have a wonderful weekend!

You Are My Sunshine

I made this card for my dad. Even though I tried to make it masculine, it still came out a little girly, but my dad is a father of an only girl (me) so he's used to that. When I was little and he was late coming home for work or just when he was thinking about me after I went to college, my dad would sometimes call and sing "you are my sunshine" to me. I (since about high school) now call some of my chick friends or my husband occasionally and sing the song to them on their answering machines. So, this "you are my sunshine" is going back to dad as most times fathers don't know what they did right in your life and what is now being passed forward because they loved you the way that they did.

That being said, I was also trying to work in some challenges and this one qualified for four of them.

Cricut Cardz Challenge Blogspot - Father's Day Card
The Cuttlebug Spot - Sketch Drawing:

Wee Memories- WMC9 - "Punch It"
BBTB2 -Use an image of a Sun from Doodlecharms Cart - which I didn't have so I used one from the Designers Calendar Cartridge™ - It's my border on the left if you can't find them. :)

All of the layers - including the card base are from the Gypsy Wanderings Digital Cartridge™ - they were tag shadows that I just stretched on my Gypsy. I welded one of the rectangles to 5 suns from the Designers Calendar Cartridge™ to get the left panel and added another layer.

The embossing on the bottom is from the A2 Border With Love Emboss Folder™ set. The square panel is popped with pop dots and the kraft paper flower was punched out. I added the buttons to the center of three of the Suns and I added ribbon to the bottom.

The "YOU" was from the Designers Calendar font and was squished on the Gypsy. "Are" and "my" were welded and cut from the Gypsy Font™ and "sunshine" was from the Gypsy Wanderings Digital Cartridge™.

There is a lot going on in this card - I think I am going to make it more simple next time. Let me know if you would like the Gypsy cut file as it is all on there. Happy looking!

WMC7 - Sky's the Limit

I love Wee Memories and the challenges that Jenny produces. I had grandiose plans for this one and scrapped about 5 different designs. I really just wanted to use my new EAD Designs Vinyl. :)

So, here is my entry for the 7th challenge. I used my Cuttlebug™ A2 Combo Birthday Wishes™ folder - just the bottom part so that the tops of the candles weren't showing. I wanted a pinstripe or fence like feel for the bottom. I also used the new EAD vinyl rub ons that I got from the Bugs set.

Short post today as my mom is here and we are about to go shopping downtown! :) AND it's girls night tonight! This should be a great Friday! Happy weekend! --- News flash --- Girls Night has been rescheduled. So, instead it's date night with the husband - just as good! :)

Wee Memories Challenge (WMC6) - Pink with Embellishments

I have a LOT of thank you's to write right now so most of the cards I make will have that purpose. :)

This one was made for the Wee Memories Challenge #6 - Jenny's favorite things: pink and embellishments. I put Jenny's favorite things on one of my favorite things: olive green - and we had a winning combination! :)

I JUST got three new cartridges (see last post) and was dying to try out the tree from the Hertiage Cartridge™. It was also the first time for me using Core'dinations paper and I think I'm in love. I embossed the bottom of the tree with the Cuttlebug™ A2 Forest Branches Embossing Folder™ and then sanded it with some sand paper I found in my husband's toolbox (thanks, love!). I also sanded the tree in parts to just antique it a bit. My embellishments are Swarovski Crystals™ that I placed randomly around the tree to give it some pop. The "thank you" was cut from Sentimentals Cartridge™.

Thanks for stopping by!

Wee Memories Challenge (WMC5) - Stitching

Wee Memories Challenge #5 - Stitching....

Now, for those of us that live in a 450 square foot studio, it's hard to justify having a Cricut®, Cuttlebug™, and now a YourStory™ (eek!). but to have a sewing machine too...?.... well, let's just say that I may be going for either the YuDu™ or the CricutCake™ for my birthday and not the sewing machine. Thank goodness Jenny put in the exception of using faux stitching if one so desires. Well, I looked high and low for a white gel pen. Michaels had one - I put it in my basket (I had driven 25 minutes to get there) and the check out man apparently forgot to take it out of my basket. Thusly when I got home and was ready to do my "stitching", alas - no gel pen.

I didn't give up. I went down to Monterey for Mother's Day and my mom said she would go with me to Beverly's to get one. They closed at 5. We got there at 5:04. No dice.

Thusly, here I am and I did my faux stitching on part of my card with a green pen that ended up looking too dark I think. But the stitching is there! I will have to get a pen soon. I even checked my Walgreens in the city with no luck. I am planning a pilgrimage to Office Depot. :)

That being said, I used some scraps of all these papers to make this card. I popped a few panels with pop dots and voila! I used my Cuttlebug™ to put the embossed flowers in on the side. I can't remember which set it is from, but I really liked how the flowers came out and it's on the inside too. Enjoy!
