Stencil Sunday #85

Good afternoon all.

My turn once more to encourage you to get out your stencils and join us at STAMPlorations for our February Mixed Media Challenge. Another small canvas to share today using masks and stencils...I so liked the one I made earlier in the month that I made another for a friend.

You may remember I teased you with this picture on my post earlier this month...well it didn't go to waste!
Not having anything to hand to dump the mask in when I removed it from the previous project I made a kitchen towel sandwich and  rubbed over it to clean off the ink...voila a perfect mask!

I dissected the kitchen roll so I only had one layer and added it to the canvas with gel medium. I put the Two Feathers mask the opposite way round and sprayed with DecoArt Media Misters, removed the mask and allowed everything to dry. I used the  Scribbly Splattery Grunge stamp set and some archival ink to add some detail to the background.Transparent acrylic paint was added next with a little gesso. I used texture paste and the  Feathers and Arrows (large) stencil to add the three feathers, coating with clear EP...once thoroughly dry I heat embossed the feathers. Some shading was added with a water colour pencil then I used Radiant Gel and the Dots all Over stencil to finish the project off.

The letters were stamped and fussy cut and adhered with gel medium then painted with some transparent acrylic paints.

Stencil Sunday #82 + February Mixed Media Challenge

Good afternoon all.

This is my second post today, you'll find my Christmas Card Club make here.

The first Sunday of the month once again so we're live over at STAMPlorations with our February Mixed Media Challenge. I've got a small canvas to share with you today.

The idea for this canvas has been mulling around in my head for some time and when I saw the new Two Feathers mask I knew I needed it like yesterday!
I started by layering some torn backing paper onto the canvas with gel medium, after positioning the mask I sprayed with DecoArt Media Misters. I lifted off the mask using tweezers and left everything to dry thoroughly before adding some blue transparent acrylic paint and white gesso with a dry brush..

It was now time to do some stamping so I picked up the Scribbly Splattery Grunge stamp set and some archival ink.

Next up I stencilled 3 feathers from the Feathers and Arrows (large) stencil using a mix of sparkle medium, texture paste and gel....this rejuvenated the sparkle medium which had dried up a little.

I stamped and fussy cut the letters and attached them with gel medium before adding some transparent acrylic paints. I used a water colour pencil to add some shading and finally added my "angel feather" which had appeared when we first bought the new house.

It still needed a little something so out came my Dots all Over stencil and some Radiant gels...

I was left with this....come back later in the month to see how I used it!

{Mixed Media Tutorial} Art Happens Here

Good evening all. Hope you are well and avoiding all the bugs going around at the moment.

We had a lovely week in Lanzarote, weather was mostly nice though it was a bit windy...temperatures were about 20 degrees higher than home though! Back to reality now , I was expecting to do Jury Duty this week but it seems my services aren't required after all.

My first tutorial of 2017 is up on the STAMPlorations blog today, I decided to do a nice bright canvas for my craft room. I hope you enjoy seeing how it was produced.

These photos really don't do the colours justice...I'm still struggling to find the right place to take my pictures in the new house! I really must get my light box thingy set up somewhere 😑

Stencil Sunday #78 + January Mixed Media Challenge

Good evening all.

This is my second post today, you'll find my Christmas Card Club post here.

It's time for our first Mixed Media challenge of the year over at STAMPlorations, we're a little late this month as we had a break over the festivities.

A very simple stencilled  print today inspired by this canvas my younger son bought me for Christmas. I loved the look of this gorgeous Vienna scene and wondered whether I could recreate something similar with a stencil.

I used DecoArt Media Misters through the Happy Flowers (large) stencil, mostly letting each colour dry before adding the next. I'm reasonably happy with the result for a first attempt.

Stencil Sunday #77

Good evening all.

This time next week it will be all over...best get my butt into gear and get ready! Had planned to get so much done yesterday but I had an allergic reaction to the contrast agent they injected me with when I went for a routine MRI scan on Friday and it knocked me for seven...just what I needed...NOT!

My turn once more to inspire you to use your stencils over at STAMPlorations. This is our final Stencil Sunday post of this year, we'll be back mid January after a well-earned rest.
I have an upcycled jam jar to share...a very simple transformation!

I painted the outside with some leftover chalky paint, which was a bit messy so I used gesso for the second coat. Once dry I sprayed each side and the lid through the Snowflakes all Over stencil with DecoArt Media Misters. To finish I added some ribbon and beads around the neck and a few gems...et voila.

Could be used to hold sweet treats, flowers, herbs etc...I've added a battery operated night light to mine to make a festive ornament.

Our Mixed Media challenge runs until the end of the month, remember it's anything goes except a card.

Stencil Sunday #72

Good evening all.

It's my turn again to offer some inspiration on the Stencil Sunday post today over at STAMPlorations. Today I have a 12"x12" canvas to share with you.

I have had three of these planned in my mind for ages...one for each of my niece and nephew's weddings and finally managed the first of my niece's special day. Sadly there were no photos of hubby and I together that day so I've used one of me and my beautiful niece.

I added multi colours of acrylic paint to the canvas randomly with a small brayer, then added some stamping using both Archival Inks and Silver EP.

I added texture paste through the dots all over stencil, then added a bit more paint and some Distress Crackle Paint.

Finally I sprayed some DecoArt Media Mister through the Hearts all Over stencil to add some corner detail.

My main focal point was layered up and stuck with a hot glue gun....cheesecloth, lace, hessian, a Prima photo frame and button. The labels were cut and stamped using words from Trendy Butterflies onto kraft card. All other words were stamped onto tissue and attached with medium gel. Butterflies and Memories word from my stash.

I hope you like what you see here today and we'd love you to join in our Mixed Media Challenge which runs until the end of the month...non card projects only and remember to use a stencil.

Stencil Sunday #61

Good afternoon all.

It's my turn to add some inspiration to the Stencil Sunday post at STAMPlorations today, I hope you like what I've made.

To make the background I used DecoArt Media Misters over first the Big Bloom Factory (large) stencil then, once dry I used the Leaf Bliss (large) stencil with a different colour. I love the fact you can layer these misters without any colours mixing and muddying. I then used Big Bloom Factory stamps to overstamp some of the background design then heat embossed with various colours of EP. Tags were cut using the new CUTplorations Luggage Tags Nesting. I stamped and embossed two of the flowers from Big Bloom Factory on waste card and fussy cut them to adhere to the top tag. Smile Word die was cut from white card for the larger tag. Ribbons and pearls are from my stash.

I hope you can pop over to the blog to see my teamies projects this month, you won't be disappointed.

You still have a few days to enter our Mixed Media challenge this month...remember non-card projects only!
