LSC201 Sketch Book - I got to use my new Bind-It-All!!

Oh my! It has been a full week since I posted last!!! I did not get buried alive by the loads of gift wrap my kids demolished from their presents on Christmas. I just have been busy with all the holiday stuff that I am sure many others are busy with!! LOL!! :)

However, I got a Bind-it-all (BIA) for Christmas this year, and just could not wait to put it to use!!! So, I decided to create an 8"x8" sketch book. For the images, I used Innovative Stamp Creations About Me set. To create the swirled background I used glossy paper and three different brown colored alcohol inks along with some gold additive. I then stamped the ornate image and the sentiment with craft black ink and embossed with clear embossing powder (I used my stamp-a-ma-jig to make sure all the images lined up correctly). I then colored some plain grunge board with some white acrylic paint and covered that with some more gold alcohol ink. Next, stamped the pen image with black craft ink and embossed again with clear powder, cut it out, and popped it up with some glue dots. I then added the red swirls, which are from the Rustic Artsy Swirls set with some ruby red craft ink and embossed them with some more clear powder.

I used some Riding Hood Red taffeta ribbon along with some fun gold and brick red ribbon to dress up the black bind. Then, I finished it off with a Zutter's antique gold perfect closure where I dyed the leather strap with black alcohol ink to match the black accents on the cover.

Wow! The BIA is just way too much fun to use! I am sure I will be finding all sorts of things to bind in the new year! Speaking of the new year...I hope that everyone has a save and happy New Year's Eve, and a fantastic New Year!!

CT1208 & SC208 - Wings of Friendship

I made this card for both this week's SC208 and for this month's Dirty Girls challenge of CT1208 Obscure Holidays...The obscure holiday I chose for this card was "Learn More about Butterflies" which is celebrated on March 14th. LOL!!

The images I used for this card is from the About Me set from Innovative Stamp Creations. The background was created with ranger alcohol inks - meadow, slate, denim and silver. I then stamped the flower flourish image and the sentiment in craft black and heat embossed with clear EP.

For the butterfly, I painted some plain grunge board with some lake mist colored ranger acrylic paint, and stamped the butterfly with craft black and again embossed with clear EP. I then cut it out and popped it up on dimensionals. I finished the card off with some sheer white ribbon in the corner.

Mini Tote Bag Tutorial!

I made these fun totes for my nieces, I thought they would be perfect to tuck a gift card in. 3x3" note cards would also fit in these, which would make a fun gift too!! I got the idea from my friend Kerri, who sent me one along with the directions on how to make them. The direction say they were from Donna Matoi...so Donna if you have a blog, let me know and I will link you!!!

I used the new raspberry tart DSP that will be available from SU in January...very fun and bright paper, perfect for my nieces!! I have put together a picture tutorial on how to make them if you would like to give it a try too!

First, score a 12"x12" double sided piece of DSP at 1", 5 1/4", 6", 6 3/4" and 11". Then turn the paper and score at 3 1/2" and 8 1/2".

Next, fold and glue down the scored 1" flap on both sides.

Then, fold at the 6" score mark and punch 2 - 3/16" holes at 4 1/2" and 7 1/2".

Open the fold and set the 4 jumbo eyelets.

Fold at the 3 1/2" and 8 1/2" scored lines.

Then fold at the remaining scored lines, making valley and mountains.

Punch a 1/8" hole in the center of the tote, and then set a small eyelet to keep it together (I also placed a brad within they eyelet to make it look like a button of snap.

Add ribbon for handles and embellish however you choose!

These are just way too easy and fun to make! I really hope my nieces like them...they should since they are 11 and 9 and LOVE purses!!

Project Details:
Images: Punches Three
Paper: Raspberry Tart DSP, Regal Rose, Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White
Inks: Regal Rose, Kiwi Kiss
Accessories: Large eyelets, Kiwi Kiss Ribbon, Small eyelets, Brads, Designer Label Punch, Scalloped Square Punch

TLC200 - Marvels of Nature Silk!!

I made this for TLC200 - Faux Silk with a POP! There is a great video tutorial on how to make your faux silk "pop" over on Ann Clemmer's blog.
For my card, I used Innovative Stamp Creation's Marvels of Nature II set. I started by stamping and cutting 3 little birds out of some scrap paper to use as a mask for the large leaf floral stamp. I placed the birds on the stamp, and then inked it up with old olive ink. I then took the birds I was using as a mask off the image and stamped the flourish directly onto white tissue paper. I then crumpled the tissue paper up and carefully smoothed it out again. Then I stamped three more birds in pink pirouette on whisper white and cut them out. I then used a glue stick and glued the pink birds to the back of the tissue paper exactly where I had masked them before.
Next, I took at whisper white piece of paper and sponged some clouds in Baja breeze. I then covered it with glue from a glue stick and centered my tissue paper over the card stock and smoothed it over making sure to leave a few "wrinkles" to get the faux silk effect.
I then added some crimped light pink ribbon and the sentiment (which is from Rustic Artsy Swirls also from ISC) punched with my oval punches. For the base background I stamped more of the flourish leaves in old olive on pink pirouette card stock.
I really do like the faux silk technique and now adding a little "pop" just makes it even more fun!! You should definitely give it a try!!

Rustic Artsy Swirls Scrapbook Page

Sorry I have not posted in a while, I have been feeling under the weather the last couple of days. :( I am finally feeling better, so there is an end in sight!! I did get to stamp a little bit during this time though...one of my friends is the manager of the dialysis department at a local hospital, and a lady in upper management is retiring. They are having each department put together a scrapbook page for her to remember them by. She called me and asked if I would help. I said...sure what are friends for!

When she got to my house I asked her how big the page was supposed to be and she said 12X12...then I asked for the pictures she had, and she said she did not have any...apparently the lady retiring really does not know her staff, so she just wanted to say "thank you" for all the years of service she provided, on behalf of her staff. Okay, so my challenge was to fill a 12x12 page with no pictures...bring it on...I guess...LOL!!

I asked her if she had any ideas...she said no...so I had her look through some of my stamp sets and some of the cards that I have done lately, and she really loved this card and asked if I could do something like this. She especially like the stamp set and the color combo, so this is what I came up with:

I used the Rustic Artsy Swirls stamp set from Innovative stamp creations. I started with a white glossy 12x12 piece of card stock and embossed the swirls with clear embossing powder for the border. I then brayered the whole page with Baja breeze. Next, I layered a Tim Holtz flourish mask on either side of the page and sponged over that with taken with teal (you can see it in the picture if you look very closely).

For the butterflies, I stamped them with craft black on whisper white paper and then embossed with more clear embossing powder. I then colored them with some copic markers, and cut them out. I printed the "thank you" out from my computer and cut it with my creative memories circle cutter and layered with some scalloped nesties. Both the sentiment and the butterflies are all popped up with dimensionals.

Finally, I added the red satin ribbon across the top. As you can see, I did not stray much from the card since she really like it (and the cold I had...actually still have...was blocking my creative juices. LOL!) I kinda like the way it turned out...I am not much of a scrap booker at this stage in my life. Hopefully I will have more time in for it in the near future!

I Got my New Flourishes!!! :)

I was so excited when I got my new Flourishes sets, I just HAD to put some ink to them today!! I made this card for today's SC207 on SCS. I really do {{heart}} this sketch, and also really {{heart}} this reindeer image!!

I stamped the image in chocolate chip and then colored it with some copic makers. I then sponged the edges of the image panel with some close to cocoa ink. I did the same thing for the sentiment...stamped it in riding hood red and sponged the edges...then punched them out with the 1" and 1 1/4" circle punches.

I think the rest of the card is pretty self explainitory...I embellished with some chocolate chip and riding hood red ribbons and some wonderful red rhinestones for some added bling!! :)

Card Details:
Images: Flourished Christmas
Paper: Riding Hood Red, Chocolate Chip, Bella Rose DSP, Whisper White
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Close to cocoa, riding hood red, copics
Accessories: Chocolate Chip satin ribbon, Riding Hood Red taffeta ribbon, red rhinestones
I had a little more time to work on a second Flourishes card this morning...yes, it was an early morning when DS decided that 4am would be the time to wake me up! He has a cold, so I will let it go...this time! LOL!!
Anyway, I made this card for FFFC2 and ssnotime65. For the FFFC2 challenge we were to make a winter white card where the card is mostly white, and you could use one other color for a monochromatic look. For ssnotime65 we were allowed to used only a 2" strip of DSP. So I combined the challenges and came up with this card.
I am a little sad that this pictures so does NOT do this card justice! It is sooooo very sparkly IRL! I used my craft mellow moss ink with some heat and stick powder AND dazzling diamonds for both the image and the sentiment. It really sparkles, but you will just have to take my word for it. LOL!!
Card Details:
Images: Flourished Christmas
Paper: Whisper White, Mellow Moss, Old World Stack DSP
Inks: Craft Mellow Moss
Accessories: Heat and Stick powder, dazzling diamonds, embossing folder

Gifts for DD's Friends!

Well, no stamping today, but I did get a chance to take a picture of what I have been working on this past weekend and yesterday evening. Okay...I just have to say it...how cute are these tiny mugs!!!! I got them for a $1 each at Michaels the other day and just knew they would be perfect of DD's classmates this year for their Christmas party.

I dressed them up just a little more with some decorated York peppermint patties. For the patties, I punched two scalloped circles out of different holiday DSP's, and then layered these adorable images from SU's Deer Friends set, which were inked with markers. I used some craft sticks I got in the baking isle at Michaels and stuck them into the patties and then into a small Styrofoam ball in the middle of the mug. I finished it off with some shredded red paper to cover the Styrofoam, and to hold the ball into place.

I really like the way they turned out, and hope that DD classmates like them!! :)

TLC199 Tag Punch Snowflake

I actually made this card for a craft for the ladies luncheon at my Church about a week ago, and when I woke up this morning the challenge was to make a tag punch star/snowflake, so I thought this would be the perfect time to post this card to my blog!
You can find a tutorial on how to make these wonderful stars on SCS here. For my card, I used brushed silver card stock from SU or the star frame, and plain velum for the center. I then punched a snow burst snowflake for the center of my star, added a crystal brad from my SU pretties kit, and added some drops of stickles on the edges of the snow burst punch.
For the panel behind the star, I layered a divine swirls embossed whisper white panel on top of some more brushed silver paper (which I totally LOVE this silver paper from SU, by the way!).
I finished it off with the sentiment which came from SU's Cardinal Christmas set, punched out with the large oval and then layered over a designer label punched out in Baja breeze.
If you have never made one of these before, I recommend that you try...they look difficult to do, but really they are quite easy...just ask the ladies at my church, who had doubts to begin with, but loved the outcome when they were all done! LOL!!
Card Details:

Paper: Brushed Silver, Whisper White, Baja Breeze
Ink: Baja Breeze
Accessories: Large and Small tag punches, crystal brad, stickles, snow burst punch, large oval punch, designer label punch

LSC198 - Going Green!

I made this gift card holder for LSC198, which was titled "going green". We were to reuse/recycle something on our card/project for today.

I got this chocolate ribbon from a box of chocolate dipped peppermint sticks I bought the other day from Williams Sonoma. MMMMM...anyway, I when I was standing in the store, I looked at the box and the ribbon and thought...oh I could totally use this ribbon for a card! LOL!! So here it is.

Anyway, I kept it simple today...which is fitting for a limited supply challenge... it is gonna be a busy day. These gift card holders are so very simple to make. Take a 4 1/4" x 11" piece of paper. Score it in 3" on either side, and then again in the middle at 5 1/2". Fold it like a "w" and then punch the center with a word window punch and circle punch, and that is where you put the gift card. Embellish as you wish...see what I mean...totally simple!

Card Details:
Image: Punches Three
Paper: Ski Slope DSP, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Chocolate Ribbon, Scalloped Square Punch, Designer Label Punch, Word Window Punch, 1 1/4" circle punch

SC206 - Friend to Friend - Love This New Heart Punch!!

I made this card for SC206 on SCS today...a very fun sketch, and just perfect for the three heart image in the new SU set Love You Much, available in the new spring/summer catty come out in January!

The DSP I used for this card is the Candy Lane DSP which will also be available in January...I just love these colors, close to cocoa, riding hood red and pink pirouette!

For the heart images I stamped it in riding hood red on pink pirouette and then punched the hearts out with the new heart to heart punch...yep, you guessed it...also available in January! :)

I then finished of the card with some crimped pale pink ribbon.

It really is hard to believe that I have stamped a couple of valentine cards already!! It is kinda hard to think valentines with Christmas just around the corner!!

This card is for CC196 - Baja Breeze, Taken With Teal, Riding Rood Red (or in my case real red) and Whisper White...a very fun color combo!!
Today's card was made with Innovative Stamp Creation's Rustic Artsy Swirls. I began with a piece of whisper white paper, I embossed the swirls with clear embossing power. I then brayered baja breeze over that. Next, I took the Tim Holtz flourish mask placed it on portions of the card and sponged the card with taken with teal.
For the butterfly image, I stamped the butterfly in basic black on some extra whisper white that was brayered with baja breeze. I then colored some portions with a teal copic marker, and popped it up on a dimensional.
To finish off the card, I added some red grosgrain ribbon. Then, punched the sentiment with my small and large oval punches...added the silver hardware.

Kitchen Sink Crew Challenge #3 - I got to play along today!!

It is Monday, which means that Kitchen Sink Stamps has their weekly crew challenge today. I am very happy that I had the time to play today! Actually, I made this box bag this past weekend, and it just fit perfectly with the challenge that they posted today! Great Challenge Emilia!!
Today's challenge was to make a gift for a friend or relative, you could only use kitchen sink stamps, and you could not use any designer paper... so I crated my own with their wonderful 3 step poinsettia set.
I stamped both the large and small poinsettia's on a piece of pink pirouette paper, with pink pirouette, regal rose, ruby red, riding hood red and chocolate chip inks. The leaves were then added with mellow moss, old olive, always artichoke, and chocolate chip.
I then added the thank you tag which was punched out with my square punch and my square scalloped punch, and tied to the top tab with some brown twill ribbon. Here is a close up for you to not only see the tags, but the wonderful images that the three step poinsettia makes...so very detailed!
The best tutorial I have found for making these box bags can be found on Diana Gibbs blog. They truly are fun and easy to make!! I made this particular one for a hostess of a party that I will be going to next weekend. I plan on making many more of these this Christmas for all my friends and relatives, only I think I will be using DSP for those! :)
As you can see, in the first picture, two bags of hot chocolate fit perfectly into the bags. I also got some chocolate dipped peppermint stick (also known as north poles) from William Sonoma that will compliment the cocoa perfectly!! Hope everyone likes them!!
Project Details:

TLC198 - Vellum Wine Glass Votive Holder

Wow, what a fun technique for today's TLC198 on SCS!! We were to make a Vellum Votive holder out of vellum card stock and a wine glass.
To make one of these you can go here and print out the easy pesy template, and then decorate it however you would like!!
I do not have any vellum card stock on hand, so I embossed my image in black on some copy paper, and then layered it with some vellum to give it a softer feel! After I had finished I realized that with the way I did it, you really would not have to emboss it, you could just stamp directly on the copy paper and then cover with the vellum. I would think, though, that if you had vellum card stock and you wanted to do something similar as I did, you could just emboss the images directly onto the card stock.
I really does look neat all lit up, but my camera could not capture it very well...I just got a new digital camera for my birthday a few weeks ago, and I have not had much chance to play with it so I am not even sure how to turn the flash off! LOL!!
Anyway...i really think these are fanatic! They would make a wonderful gift for any time of the year!!

LSC197 - Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!!

I made this card earlier this morning, but ran out of time and could not add it until now. Today's LSC197 on SCS was indeed limiting. We could only use snowflakes (snowflake images, die cuts, DSP, embossing folders, etc). The colors had to be monochromatic, we had to add some sparkle somewhere, and the sentiment could only be one word. I do believe I have captured all three in this card.

I started out with a cuttlebug snowflake die cut, I tried to cut some grungeboard with it, but it is really just too thick, so I ended up trimming the last layer of Grungeboard with my scissors. I do know, however, that the snow flake die cuts from SU would be able to cut the grungeboard, so that is just and FYI for anyone interest.

Once I had the snowflake cut out, I painted it with some faded jeans distress crackle paint, then I took my ranger inking tool and added some pearl mixative over the dried crackle paint. To finish off the snowflake I then rubbed a light coat of ice stickles over the top and added the clear crystal brad in the center.

The snowflake DSP is from SU's ski slope package, and I also added a few more snowflake on the card with the snowflake cuttlebug embossing folder.

I then finished off the card with some double stitched blue bayou ribbon.

This card was very fun to do...I am having a blast working with grungeboard and paints...a whole new world of stamping for me!!

Card Details:
Images: Warm Word for sentiment
Paper: Whisper White, Blue Bayou
Ink: Blue Bayou
Accessories: Distress Crackle Paint, Ranger Pearl Mixative alcohol ink, Ice Stickles, Crystal Brad, Baja Breeze Ribbon, Grungeboard, Snowflake Embossing folder, Snowflake die cut.

TLC195 - Envelope It!! DVD Envelope & Blog Candy Give Away!!!

Today's TLC195 challenge on SCS was to incorporate in envelope into your project. I immediately thought of doing a DVD envelope that I came up with about a year ago. They are just so fun to create, and really fun to give when you have a DVD or small book to give as a gift!

For today, I thought I would try my hand at another circle medallion. They are so fun and easy to do, and have such a WOW effect! The images are from Innovative Stamp Creation's Marvels of Nature set. I stamped the floral background on some whisper white card stock and then sponged a few clouds over that with Baja breeze. I then stamped the small bird and popped it up on a dimensional.

To make the DVD envelope, I have done a tutorial a few months ago, that you can see here. I also have created some step by step directions and a scoring template and put it on SCS here. So if you are interested in making one of these check out these links and you should have no troubles!! :)

Okay now for the moment some of you have been waiting for!! The Blog Candy give away!!! I put the post numbers in Random.org Random Integer Generator and it came up with #2!!! Post number 2 is from JAR - Judy which states - "Oh Connie, your card is so beautiful! I haven't ever used GB, although Shelly says she loves it! I hope your day was lots of fun!!!" Congrats to you Judy! Your Grungeboard is on the way!! Thanks to everyone who played!

SC205 - New SU!!! Love You Much set! Also, Final day for a chance for some Blog Candy!!

I made this for SC205. What a fun sketch! Just perfect to show off some of this new Candy Lane DSP that will be available in the Spring/Summer SU catty! As well as this new set Love You Much! I just love playing with new stuff!! So very exciting!!
This card is pretty much self explanitory...I kept it pretty simple this morning. The image was colored with markers and I stamped it on both vanilla and pink pirouette. I then punched the center of the image with the 1 1/4" circle punch and then the pink outer edge was punched with the scallop punch. The center portion of the stamp is popped up on a dimensional on the scalloped layer. I then layered it with a few more circles. The ribbon is also layered...the bottom is some striped Riding Hood Red ribbon and the top is some very vanilla taffeta ribbon.
Now on to my final announcement about my birthday blog candy give away. You have until Midnight PT to post to my birthday post on November 29th for your chance to win some fun grungeboard! Good luck!!!

A Triple Threat! CC195, ssnotime63 and 12day5

I made this for three different challenges one form SCS - CC195 (very vanilla, Sahara sand and basic black), one from Sharon's blog - ssnotime63 (Give Thanks), and one from PCP - 12day5 - a round craft of has circles/rings. Whew! That was a lot to keep track of, but I think I did it!!
The wonderful rose image is from Kitchen Sink Stamps 3 step hearts and roses, which is tamped int going gray, basic gray and basic black. The sentiment is from their a year of thanks set which fits into ssnotime63 giving thanks. I used my creative memories circle cutter, and my SU punches for the circles on my card (for PCP 12day5 challenge).
To finish off the card, i lightly sponged the vanilla edges with basic black and added some black twill ribbon. So it is a pretty simple card, which also fits into the ssnotime challenges!
Well I think that is it for this card...it is pretty self explanitory...I did want to remind all of you of my blog candy give away again. Just post a comment on my birthday post on November 29th and you will have a chance to win some grungeboard!

TLC197 - Holly Wreath with Speckled Background, AND Blog Candy reminder!!

I made this for TLC197 - Speckled Background technique. This technique is so fun and easy. Basically you first your ink colors to some glossy card stock by either using your brayer, or sponging on your ink (Try not to overlay colors on top of one another, to avoid "muddying" the ink.) Next, put a little Simple Green Cleaner into a spritzer bottle. If you don't have a spritzer bottle, you can put a little into a bowl and tip your fingers into the bowl and flick the cleaner onto your inked glossy card stock, leaving some droplets on the card stock...you'll see the effect right away. Let your card stock dry and then proceed to finish your card as you normally would. How simple is that!! :)
For the holly wreath...I used kitchen sink stamps 3 step mistletoe & holly set. I stamped and cut out 36 holly leaves...yes...36!! I then placed them on a circle ring cut out with my creative memories circle cutter. I then added the pearls and ribbon to finish off the wreath.
I then decided to make the card a suspension card, by taking the sentiment and stringing it in the middle of the wreath with some dental floss...you can see the tutorial on suspension cards here.
Okay, have you ever made a card, and when you finally finished it you thought...there is no way I am ever sending this out...I just spent WAAAAY too much time on it! Well...this is the card for me! I literally spent weeks on this card. I had the idea, and started it about a week and a half ago, when the Way to Use It challenge was to use pearls...as you can see...I still used the pearls on this card. LOL!! I finally finished putting the wreath together this weekend and waited impatiently for today's technique challenge to be posted to see if I could incorporate it with today's challenge, and viola, my card is finally finished!! :)
Also, don't forget to post a comment on my birthday post from November 29th, for your chance to win some Tim Holtz Grungeboard!!
