Who's Hiding In That Pickle Jar?

My collection of vintage baby shoes is sprinkled about the house
and I stash the rest in this huge pickle jar.
After seeing Manon's post featuring the cutest little red shoes...
I decided I needed this tiny red pair for a Christmas display...
...so I dumped the jar out on the table.

Wait!
Do you see what I see?

Look at this charming little fellow nestled in that old shoe!

Where did he come from?
hmmm....I have no idea....

OK, so I told a tall tale....(tail?)
:)
My girlfriend Paula gave me this cute little Christmas mouse in the old Victorian shoe when I visited last week.
Thank you Paula!

He is a Cathy Pendleton original creation.
Too cute!

Just one more sleep till Santa comes!
Merry Christmas friends!

Shoebox Sweetness

At the thrift store this week there was a small shoe box filled with old baby shoes.

It was impossible to resist the urge to take them home with me.

The first pair I pulled out had a jingle bell on each shoe.
Written on the bottom of one of the two was the name Don.

The next pair had the name Diane written on the bottom of one of the shoes.

...and then the name Doug was on the third pair...

...and Dean on the last pair...also sporting jingle bells.

The pink booties did not have a name on them but I would have to assume they belonged to Diane as well.

I will clean them up and polish them and shine up the rusty jingle bells.

Can you picture the little ones who once wore these baby shoes?
...and the mother who lovingly placed them in this shoebox...unable to let go of the sweet memories filling these tiny shoes.

Time goes by so fast.

If you have children that are still at home...
...make some more happy memories to cherish!

Lily of the Valley and Favorite Flea Find

The sweetest flower of spring...
...tiny lily of the valley...

...in a white baby shoe.

This was my favorite find this weekend...

The clock face says Made in the USA...
the metal on the bottom is marked Made in Germany...

I don't know anything about it....
...but isn't it really beautiful?

...We have many lily of the valley throughout the property...
I have filled little vases to place them all over the house.

I found the seltzer bottle on the left at the church sale on Saturday...
...three is a collection!

Lots to do this week.
Trying not to set my goals too high...
...in hopes that I can reach a few!
................Thanks Zita for that great tip!

Have a good night and a great Tuesday!

Last Look at Madison Bouckville

The countryside here in the middle of New York state is full of rolling hills and farmland....see the wind turbines on the hillside in the distance?

Carole could not resist taking pictures whenever we stopped....

Queen Anne's Lace....a favorite summer wildflower...

Deanna fell in love with this beautiful old Victorian house and wanted to rescue it...
She does that and she's really good at it!
You should see the beautiful Victorian home she lives in now!!

Ok, here are a few random pictures of some of the small things I brought home with me.....an old shabby sampler...a child's pair of vintage and oh so dear blue and white stripe socks...

We found 12 of these old metal drawer bins and 6 old wire baskets at the same booth....Paula and I divided them up between us.....the bins can hook onto a rim or ledge...I will add the wire baskets to the gym locker baskets I already have ....great for storage....

I am waiting for Paula to come up with the perfect use for the old metal drawer bins...What would you do with them? Would you repaint them or leave them rusty and shabby?

Some old leather baby shoes, a brown silk change purse and a dolly...

Funky chippy white hearts cut from old ceiling tiles...

Odds and ends to be used in assemblages...

I can't ever seem to pass up on these old stamp sets...

A shoebox full of vintage Christmas ornaments and a child's pair of old red wool mended mittens..

And last, but not least.....sweet Carole gifted me with these two tins with my favorite number 52!
Thanks girls for a great weekend! It's time to get busy and create and decorate!
And thanks friends for coming along with us and all your kind comments!
:) Laura
