Motifs, Snowflakes, Ice Drops, Inserts, Button Motifs, Ornaments, Runner, Bookmarks, Doilies, Techniques and Earrings
Vera couldn't wait to start this design which she though was going to be small. Done in size 16 Eldorado it's 11 cm across.
Pop Maria used hollow beads and Preciosa blue beads, silver beaded beads and silver polyester yarn with a blue glass decorative stone in the middle of this Birthday Ice Drop.
Elsa found a shirt in light blue tones that she loves, but it sometimes shows more décolletage than she is comfortable with, so she created a modesty insert in tatting. She measured and drew the shape of the neckline, including the location of existing seams and chose the thread, DMC 50 coordinated cotton white and a complimentary pattern. The finished piece was too white and contrasted too much with the fabric until she embroidered in some blue gray pearls.
Melanie created a tatted version of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony last movement showing what it looks like using the bead count.
Cindy created another motif using a button made from an antler slice which was fun to try working around the more oval shape.
Diane decided to venture into tatting around a Christmas ball and her first venture was with Renulek's Bubble 3D-1. That left time for an Ice Drop in green with a green ribbon with pristine white thread. She has made some progress on her SIL's runner. One Ice Drop got started.
Eliz received a care package from Denise Wessman when she was sick earlier this year which included an Ice Drop done by Denise and all the materials for Eliz to make her own. She was finally feeling well enough to create her own sticking closely to Diane's original pattern using size 20 Lizbeth thread.
Fox tatted another button bookmark for a gift. She's not sure where this pattern comes from but she's tatted it many times, this one is in size 40 Lizbeth which she is trying to use up as it's a least favourite variegated thread.
Margaret was challenged by Fox to try a design from Craftree that she had given up on, which is started in Lizbeth white in the middle and second round with Lizbeth purple, both size 20.
Marie has been been test tatting for a friend and here is one of her, beautiful snowflakes.
Muskaan has posted a tutorial on switching the core thread.
Wanda's neighbour asked for a pair of earrings for his granddaughter who likes horses and turquoise. This is Wanda's rendition based on Debbie Arnold‘s Seahorse pattern.

Motifs, Techniques, Leaves, Ice Drops, Runner, Edging and Doily
Usha recently found way of overlaying another colour of thread while working on normal rings. Her group gave the technique a try and Vrinda did a variation with only 4 rings making a square motif. The PDF for the Encircled Charm is available on her blog. The process is similar to the Ikuta Picots by Muskaan. Of course what is any technique without pushing the envelope to see what can be done with it.
Vera has tatted some maple leaves in autumn colours.
Diane thinks the sparkle of this thread doesn't show up well in the picture and the Ice Drop is much prettier in person. She met with the Tollway Tatters and worked on her sister's runner, but noticed when she got to the last ring, that she had tatted the first ring wrong and had to snip. Denise finished Karey Solomon's Ice Drop from Palmetto Tat Days. While Diane finished one of her Ice Drops, so the day was not a loss. She had a mistake in Erin Holloway Moseley's Josephine Chain Square Motif done in size 20 Lizbeth #131, Vineyard Harvest, and she was just going to continue on, but in the end she decided to start again and finally had success on the third try. Her little tree of Ice Drops is full so now this batch of Ice Drops is safely tucked away in a little tin ready for the holidays. She started another right away using a cat's eye cabochon that she found on Etsy, but the cat's eye doesn't show up on this orange gem. Barbara gave them glass gems with the little floaty things in them and whatever they're called it still looks pretty.
Fox used AlenAleaDesign HDT, #40, and a Nancy Tracy pattern to make this adorable sock edging. Here's the pair done, photographed and mailed.
Marie found that this round of her doily tatted fast. Round 6 was pretty quick too. She's finished round 7 and the next rounds will be in the same colour.
Muskaan is making progress on her doily a snowflake morphed into a motif. She has found that it's not enough to just tat the next round, she has to consider the one after it and how it will connect. The tiny shamrock is Simple Shamrock earrings pattern is by Stephanie Wilson from the 52 Earrings Project. Rounds 5 and 6 of her doily are done with some of her design thoughts posted.
Wanda shows us the costume she wore for Palmetto Tat Days. She didn't have a lot of time to work on her costume since she didn't decide to attend until the last minute. Her outfit includes tatted earrings, tatting on the sleeves, a tatted fascinator, tatted cuffs and tatted leggings.
