Motifs, Bookmarks, Ornaments, Bracelet, Necklace, Snowman, Ice Drops, Runner, Doilies, Box, Earrings, Bell, Snowflakes, Leaves and Wreath

Vera has posted some of the motifs she has been working on like these that can be used as bookmarks or ornaments. This one is something that she's been wanting to tat for a long time. For Christmas Vera has her stars all assembled and put into small bouquets.

Pop Maria's last tatting for the year is this simple ring and chain edging turned into this gorgeous elegant two tone bracelet.

Batty Tatter enjoyed this Tree Top Ornament from the book Tatting for Today by Marion T. Leyds, but her points didn't quite meet the ring. She added one more ring just below the clover on either side of the points so that it fits the ring better and she's thinking she might just keep this one.

Elsa tatted Robin Perfetti's Magic Square which was translated into French and selected DMC 80 special thread, colours 437 and 169, but the design seemed too airy to use as a bookmark. She added in some tiny inserts to fill the voids. then capped it all off with a tatted triangle and some chained arches to finish it. She found this lovely design for a brooch on a Russian site, but since that's not something she would wear she changed it to a necklace.

Melanie found that keeping track of very small picots used for joining tucked in among a plethora of beads very challenging until she used tiny little loops of contrasting thread.

Diane received an Birthday Ice Drop from Denise in her exchange package. After a marathon of tatting she managed to finish her sister's mantle runner in time for Christmas and of course her sister loved it.

Fox had to face up to it, the row of split rings was wonky, so she bit the bullet, cut it off and started again. she has now completed the first split row again. Sigh.

Margaret tatted another Cosmic Ice Drop in Lizbeth size 20, with green beads and green glass gem using the pattern by Nicola Bowersox.

Marie had to make a few more trinket boxes to replace the ones sold at her shows. She designed these earrings for her baby sister, who has gorgeous blue eyes. Her gift from the tatting exchange included a tatted bell.

Muskaan tatted Snowflake for the Christmas tree by Agnieszka Michalowska, and in size 40, it measures 2¼” across. Round 9 of Agnieszka’s Doily #10 “Pikotek” done in aqua blue without the excess of picots.

Nikki forgot to post her Thanksgiving motifs and it seems a little out of season to post them now, but she's calling this 15 out of her 25.

Sue had this idea for a Christmas wreath. it's done in size 40 Lizbeth Christmas Green with 3 different sized picots randomly tatted along, but it would have looked better with more seed beads in more colours. She found a small motif she tatted that she's not sure what it was for, but it would made a great back for an Ice Drop. After all the snow they got she wanted colourful flowers, not more white stuff, so she tatted Diane's Pink Fudge Ice Drop pattern in size 40 Lizbeth Wildflower Garden.

Ornaments, Bookmarks, Pendants, Star, Heart and Earrings

Vera has been tatting ornaments working on Renulek's bell pattern which she likes. She did another based on Robin Perfetti's pattern. In all she did 4 ornaments.

Cindy did some ornament testing and tatted the one on the left in size 20 thread, but she didn't like how it fit on the 80 mm ball which is just a bit larger than 3 inches. She tatted it again in size 30 thread but decided she liked the first one better anyway. Now that that's settled she's off to tat more ornaments, maybe the same thing in size 30 on a 70 mm ball.

Fox has taken a break from interminable motifs to tat a button bookmark.

Marie participated in the Bonner's Ferry Fair Grounds craft show and had some lovely beaded tatting on these ornaments. Tatting around a crystal bead made this gorgeous pendant, one of the items she displayed at the Naples Holiday Festival Craft Show. This is Robins, "Large Beady Snowflake" which turned into a star when she ran out of thread.

Martha tatted Jane Eborall's heart pattern, entitled "My Heart is in Canada" which was taught at Fringe Element's conference in September.

Sue tatted these earrings in size 40 Lizbeth Blue Ice with size 2 iridescent bugle beads, tiny blue beads, and a clear small Ice Drop gem for a friend who fell in love with the Ice Drop done in a larger size. Here you can see them next to the larger Ice Drop ornament both done in the Birthday Ice Drop pattern.

Snowflakes, Ornaments, Ice Drops, Earrings, Edging, Motifs, Bookmark, Tatty Bug, Doilies and Lanyard

Vera has finished blocking her snowflakes and she tried stiffening some of them and she has plans to add beads. I'm sure the translation is missing something because from the pictures it looks like she has plans to combine some of them for 3D snowflakes. We'll just have to stay tuned to see what develops. A section of Robin's design will make a nice ornament.

Batty Tatter has enjoyed making Diane's Ice Drops and she's wondering if she needs to stiffen them or add frosty sparkles to use them for Christmas decorations.

Elsa is enamoured of the centre of Jane McLellan's beautiful doily, "Under the African sky" and used it to make some delightful lilac earrings in Tenax 40 polyester yarn with 15/0 seed beads and a 3mm round center bead, which made the earring 3.5 cm wide and 4 cm high. Her friend wanted the same thing in red and larger, so she used Tenax 30 polyester yarn with 11/0 seed beads and a 4mm round bead, which resulted in earrings 4.5 cm wide and 5 cm high. Here they are pictured together for comparison. See how lovely they look on.

Diane finished tatting her Basic Ice Drop pattern with every colour bead in her little bead box. Turquoise is quickly becoming a favourite shade of blue. She  also loves this shade of green. She almost didn't use the black beads, but decided that she might as well since they were in the box. Then she played with her Minty Fudge pattern, choosing a green ribbon to go with the gold beads. The green doesn't seem to go as well with the peacock blue beads. Yellow ribbon matches yellow beads on this one. This one in blue and white is a favourite,  at least until the next one is done. A busy day, but still another Ice Drop done.

Eliz has a monster project on the go. Clover edging by Mary Konior from Tatting With Visual Patterns doesn't seem like such a big deal until it's done in size 70 thread (the only thing she has that matches the fabric) and long enough to go around a table runner. It takes 44 inches for a standard 11 inch hanky and this is for a table runner, which definitely qualifies as a monster project.

Fox loves the Babylo thread and the pattern for this motif, but she had to cut a few off before she figured out the correct order and logistics. She used size 40 Lizbeth and Japanese beads for this gift bookmark.

Marie made Rebecca Jones tatty bug. She added beads to Robins, Small Snowflake, pattern. Another snowflake with beads, pattern by Tatting by the Bay.

Muskaan joined the picot challenge and tatted the central motif with a minimum of picots, but added in a double picot in round 1 enhancing the floral effect. Dot picots were used in round 2. On the Onion Ring Magic Square #2 she omitted the outer decorative picots but messed up the joinings which resulted in a slightly wonky negative space. (My local quilting group loves my cast offs for CQ's, even when they're wonky.) On the 3rd round of the doily dot picots just looked tack so she reverted to plain decorative picots.

Sue tatted Karen from the book 20 Twenty to Make Tatted Snowflakes by Jennifer Williams which she did with snowflake sequins and although the design might be simple, all those tiny snowflakes sure would make it a challenge to tat. She also tatted another Birthday Ice Drop which sparkles amazingly in the sun. Then she played a little with a simple sequin motif using up thread.  This design by Erika Tashiro is tatted in size 20 Lizbeth Black and Rainbow Splash, but she joined the large rings as well as the small ones and it didn't work out as she thought it would. She was trying to tat a small Ice Drop with the small clear gem, but it kept slipping out of the tatting so she tatted chains with tiny beads around the front to tighten it a bit. she had been planning on using the blue gem with the Peacock Blue pieces but the sizes weren't compatible, so they'll be turned into earrings instead. She's also working on a lanyard for a friend and her planned version wasn't working so she decided to just tat. She used size 40 Lizbeth Christmas Red with gold beads, a frosted gem for the centre and 3 beads on the points of the outer chains, for this Ice Drop and added 1 bead in the centre rings to draw some gold to the centre.
