czasami są dni gdy mamy ochotę pobawić się twórczo. Tak było też i u mnie. Nic nie planując otworzyłem mój art journal, wziąłem kilka dodatków z nowej kolekcji "End of summer" i złapałem za ogniste kolory jesieni.

sometimes there are days when we want to play creatively. This was also the case with me. Without planning anything, I opened my art journal, took a few additions from the new "End of summer" collection and grabbed the fiery colors of fall.

Zacząłem, jak zwykle, od zagruntowania stron przezroczystym gesso. Na tym przykleiłem kilka paseczków papieru oraz kilka kawałków papieru ryżowego. Oczywiście jak tylko zacząłem szaleć z białym gesso i tuszami to stały się one mało widoczne, ale stworzyły ciekawą fakturę. :)

I started out as usual with priming the pages with a clear gesso. On this I glued a few strips of paper and a few pieces of rice paper. Of course, as soon as I started going crazy with white gesso and water inks, they became less visible, but created an interesting texture. :)

Zaraz po wyschnięciu tuszy dodałem kilka odbitek stemplowych.  Na tak przygotowanym tle zacząłem tworzyć kompozycję. Jako, że w journal'u wolę tworzyć bardziej płasko to użyłem tylko kilku elementów z zestawu ephemer, naklejek i tekturek.

As soon as the backround was dry, I added a few stamps. Against such a background, I started to create a composition. As I prefer to create flatter in journal, I used only a few elements from the ephemeras set, stickers and chipboards.

Nieco rdzawo / A little bit rusty

ostatnio coraz częściej bawię się mediami nie mając żadnego konkretnego planu co do efektu końcowego. Dlatego też zaczynam sięgać po kolory, których normalnie unikam. W tej pracy jest to czerwień.

Hello everyone,

recently, I am playing with the media more and more often without any specific plan regarding the final result. That's why I'm starting to reach for the colors I normally avoid. In this work it is red.

Po stworzeniu kompozycji i pomalowaniu jej na czarno zdecydowałem się dodać do niej nieco rdzy. W tym celu wymieszałem multipurpose medium z proszkiem do rdzewień. Taką pastę nałożyłem palcem w wybranych miejscach i polałem reagentem. Zostawiłem na noc do wyschnięcia.

After creating the composition and painting it in black, I decided to add some rust to it. To this end, I mixed a multipurpose medium with rust powder. I applied this paste with my finger in selected places and poured with reagent. I left to dry overnight.

Następnego dnia postanowiłem dodać pracy nieco koloru i wybrałem czerwień. Użyłem do tego dwóch farb - Color Glow fire opal wymieszanej z ciekłym medium akrylowym oraz farby metalicznej raspberry. 

The next day I decided to add some color to my work and chose red. I used two paints - Color Glow fire opal mixed with liquid acrylic medium and raspberry metallic paint.

Dodałem też kilka tekturek pokolorowanych wodnym tuszem w odcieniu scarlet. Przyciemniłem jej kolor za pomocą tuszu Distress vintage photo i pokreyłem glossy accent. By nie były zbyt błyszczące użyłem farb Vivid vintage i dodałem je matując powierzchnię. Nieco brązów dodałem też na samej pracy. 

I also added some chipboards colored with water ink scarlet. I darkened its color with Distress Ink vintage photo and highlighted glossy accent. To make them not shiny, I used Vivid vintage paints and added matting the surface. I also added some bronze for the work itself.

Mixed media Christmas card

mamy prawie połowę listopada, więc pora nadrobić zaległości w kartkach świątecznych. Na dziś postanowiłem przygotować mix mediową kartkę z odrobiną brokatu.

Hello everyone,

it's almost mid-November, so it's time to catch up on Christmas cards. For today I decided to prepare a mix media Christmas card with a little bit of glitter.

Bazę stworzyłem z kolekcją papierów "Until Dawn". Jest dość prosta - dwa większe prostokąty i kilkanaście pasków. Nieco pobieliłem je używając białego gesso. Następnie używając maski dodałem wzory śnieżynek. Na to dodałem nieco błękitu za pomocą tuszu wodnego.

I created the base with the "Until Dawn" papers collection. It's quite simple - two larger rectangles piece of papers and a few stripes. I covered them a bit using white gesso. Then, using the mask, I added snowflake patterns. I added some blue with water  ink.

Główną dekorację zrobiłem na tekturowej ramce pomalowanej białym SPLASHem. Na to trafiła kompozycja z sizalu, chrobotka oraz białych kwiatów i błyszczących kuleczek. Całość dodatkowo obsypałem niewielką ilością brokatu. Po doklejeniu napisu pochlapałem wszystko białą farbą z brokatem.

I made the main decoration on a chipboard frame painted with white SPLASH ink. A composition I've made with sisal, lichen (Cladonia rangiferina), white flowers and shiny spheres. I additionally sprinkled the whole with a small amount of glitter. After attaching the inscription, I splashed everything with white paint with silver glitter.

Cześć wszystkim,

mimo, że mamy jesień i październik to na zewnątrz wciąż jest sporo zieleni. Poprzetykana ona jest już złotym kolorem opadających liści. Dlatego też to zestawienie barw wybrałem na kolejny wpis do journala.

Hi everyone,

 even though we have fall and october, there is still a lot of greenery outside. It is interwoven with the golden color of the falling leaves. That is why I chose this color combination for another entry to the journal.

Do zrobienia tego wpisu użyłem ścinków papierów pociętych w paski o różnej szerokości i długości.  Nakleiłem je tworząc warstwy, co w efekcie dało fajną fakturę. Po przyklejeniu pobieliłem je lekko białym gessem i dodałem wzory z kilku masek.

To make this entry I used cuttings of paper cut into stripes of different width and length. I glued them creating layers, which resulted in a nice texture. After gluing, I covered them with a little bit white gesso and added patterns from several stencils.

Kolejnym krokiem był kolor. Użyłem tuszy wodnych, które bardzo lubię. W tym projekcie wybrałem tusze w kolorach olive green i yellow amber. Gdy wszystko wyschło dodałem trochę odbitek ze stempli.

Na koniec doszedłem do wniosku, że efekt bardzo mi się podoba i ostatecznie dodałem tylko sentencję z naklejek.

The next step was color. I used water-based inks which I like very much. In this design, I chose the inks in olive green and yellow amber color. When everything was dry I added some prints from the stamps.

At the end I came to the conclusion that I like the effect very much and finally added only the sentence from the stickers.

I have already made few projects with new products, but first I want to share my black mixed media canvas, made with Under the Stars ephemera elements, metal wing, glass microbeads, wires and Rusty Bronze powder with brand new Rust Reagent. I also added a little bit of Yellow Amber Water Ink and some white gesso. In the background you can see my new stencil Horoscope.

Zrobiłam już kilka prac z nowymi produktami, ale jako pierwszy pokażę Wam czarny blejtram, z wykorzystaniem efektu rdzy (nowy reagent i proszek Rusty Bronze). Do kompozycji użyłam też elementów z zestawu ephemer Under the stars, metalowego skrzydła i drutu oraz niezawodnych mikrokulek.  Dodałam tez odrobinę tuszu wodnego Yellow Amber i gesso. W tle widzicie nową maskę Horoscope. Wzór nałożyłam przy pomocy szpachli i pasty modelującej.

Hello everybody here is my sunny layout from one of my favorite places - Bondi beach:) 

I like how the textures work well with water inks' colors: Amber and Navy Blue.

Hello, 13 Arts fans!

Sandi here with you today sharing my most recent layout using the gorgeous Blue Magnolia paper collection. This is my first "solo" project since joining the Design Team and I am beyond thrilled to be here.



I adore scrapping photos of the outdoors and this photo of a granddaughter with her pony was just too precious. I'm drawn to earth colors, so chose some papers from 13 Arts Blue Magnolia to co-ordinate with my photo, Blue Magnolia at Dusk and Blue Magnolia Flowery Day.

My first step after getting a feel for my basic design was to coat my papers with 13 Arts Clear Gesso so that any added color would not soak through the papers. The gesso also helps any water-based color move across the paper. Next I adhered a few scraps of the Flowery Day to At Dusk.




Step two was to create some texture by pushing 13 Arts Modeling Paste through the Wallpaper Stencil ... which is definitely a fave of mine! While that was drying, I did a little fussy cutting of flowers and cotton stems from the Blue Magnolia A4 Elements and the Blue Magnolia Flowery Day paper. They make for great matching embellishments.

Before moving on to my color, I did some random stamping with the Rose for You Stamp as well as created some distressed photo layers with papers from the Blue Magnolia 6x6 paper pad.




The 13 Arts Navy Blue Water Ink was a perfect choice to use with the Blue Magnolia papers. I put some in a disposable palette and transferred color from there to the paper with a small brush. Then I used my water mister to move the color around until it looked pleasing. I definitely wanted some areas of darker color to really enhance the texture created by the modeling paste and stencil.




Next I began assembling my layers and added some Sisal ecru on top of the fussy cut elements. I also built up my photos with corrugated cardboard beneath them. I tucked in a few flowers from my stash and adhered them with Gel Medium.

Almost as an afterthought, I decided to add some Brown Water Ink around my photos to help them pop out a bit and really have that rough, outdoor look.




Here I adhered my fussy cut butterflies and then finished with some 3D balls. To complete the project, I splattered with some watered down 13 Arts White Gesso to help blend all the elements.

In lieu of a title, I lastly added some word phrases from the Vintage Moments Word Stickers sheet.

postanowiłem na dziś stworzyć coś nowego w moim art journalu. Zdecydowałem się na kolory, których rzadko używam, czyli na czerwień, pomarańczowy i odrobinę żółtego.

Hello everyone,

I decided to make something new in my art journal today. I decided on colors, which I using rarely - red, orange and a little bit yellow.

Użyłem białego tła oklejonego kawałkami zadrukowanych stron z książki. Po lekkim ich pobieleniu dodałem trochę odbitek ze stempli. Na to dodałem wzory z dwóch masek.

I used a white backround with a piece a books page, which I glued on them. I added a thin layer of white gesso and few patterns from stamps. On that I added z patterns from stencils.

Wszystko pokolorowałem używając tuszy wodnych. Całość wykończyłem wyciętym motylem oraz tekturkami i naklejkami.

I colored all with water inks. I finished all with butterfly, chipboards and stickers.
